I think Javid will be a front runner after his speech yesterday. He seems to be the best of a bad bunch

Rishi Sunak was very popular when he was giving all the money away during Covid - who wouldn't be. However, I think the fact that he is a multi millionaire will put people off as he will be perceived as out of touch with the real people.

I hope it isn't Liz Truss. I didn't like the inflammatory comments she made about the war in Ukraine.

Michael Gove has gone very quiet recently and Boris has just sacked him. It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't try for the job again.

Truss is very quiet - I know she's been abroad but must be back by now.

She's not PM material, but that seems not to be an impediment.

Thank God Johnson is out! He and Trump were like the worst nightmare. Glad they’ve both gone at last. Democracy doesn’t always produce the best leaders. I didn’t vote for Johnson, I voted for Brexit and against Corbyn. I suspect that lots of other people did likewise.

Patel or Truss? the world will fall about laughing ,dumb and dumber comes to mind.Though the same can be said of most of the current Tory gaggle of liars ,cheats ,thieves .

Difficult choice for the Tory faithful.

Being PM was an end in itself for Boris, there was no real desire to improve the country in any way.
How seemingly people of integrity are passed over beats me.
In the past, I thought David Steel and Michael Heseltine might have cut it, and Ed rather than his brother mystified me.

Thank goodness Michelle Donelan has already resigned from Education after one day.

If Carrie Johnson doesn't get the job then my money is on Rishi Sunak.

You have to take into account that whoever takes on the job they will be leading a party with a very damaged reputation and leading it into the next GE. They will be terrified that the last incredible victory will be followed by an outstanding defeat.

Exactly that maddyone. His four children with his first wife are over 21. He has an acknowledged 13 year old daughter from his affair with Helen McIntyre, and his two children with Carrie who are all minors.

I hope Tobias Elwood steps forward. As a member I have a vote and he’ll get mine.

Be interesting to see if Rees Mogg keeps his promise he won’t serve under another PM. Could be another piece of good news.

I think the dust will settle and then he’ll be asked to do speeches, write books, etc.

Why four out of seven Casdon? Genuine question because I thought the children from his divorce were all grown up. He obviously has the two little ones with Carrie, and it is rumoured he has one more, maybe a teenager now, with a previous partner.

As for supporting his ‘many, many’ children, most of them are well grown up and expected to support themselves, unless one of them is Prince Harry!

I do agree with you regarding his future work potential though, he got to his current role because of his humour, which appeals to lots of people (not me), and no doubt he will have lots of outrageous tales/exaggerations/lies to tell which people will want to hear. He will be a go to for the Daily Mail for sure.

Just because he resigns it doesn't mean he goes. He might stay as caretaker PM until a replacement is found.

I think Boris will become a TV celebrity once again. People knew what he did as Mayor of London and still wanted him as PM, he has a way of sliding out of things and then moving up.

That will supply a year or twos income, But I really do not think he has any credence as an after dinner speaker. His moral reputation is so low and he is a very poor speaker and lacks any wit or humour. Nor do I think any tv company will touch him with a barge pole and most people seeing his name on an article, will probably avoid it.

i suppose he might get some invites to tell dirty jokes at posh stag dos.
