There is also a scheme whereby a woman in danger can go into a pharmacy and ask for Angela.
It’s another code word indicating discrete help is needed.
Apparently a lot of pharmacy staff across the country have been trained to recognise this cry for help.

Upsetting to think how frightened that poor woman must have felt.

When DD2 was pregnant and having a telephone consultation she was told just to answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to some questions about domestic abuse and how safe she felt. It’s a brilliant idea for those too scared to ask for help.

True. GMP have also been publicising the dial 999 for a pizza. The increase in domestic abuse linked to lockdown led to the initiative.
Some positive news out of horrors

It’s dreadful to think that such schemes are needed but sadly they are.
The more it’s publicised, the more women can be helped.
