Well exactly. But most supported remain last time, so of course it must have been the fault of a dastardly plan by those who didn’t want Scotland to leave or those ignorant Scots who didn’t see how they were being misled etc, etc, etc.
If I’d had the vote, I’d have voted for Scotland to leave. I’ve already benefited from the short move to live in Scotland and get free Uni education for my DC and I haven’t got any more family who need it.

Oh, and not all the Scots have to support independence for it to happen. Just most of us have to support it. That's how it works.

I, and all the independence supporters I know (which is quite a lot) have never doubted the democracy of the operation of the 2014 referendum.

We lost because not enough people were convinced of the arguments and because there was a No campaign based on fear and uncertainty. That I know for a fact as well.

The outcome of the last referendum wasn’t wholly acceptable any more than Brexit. The only things the two had in common was that the ‘losing’ side thought the result was unfair and that it hadn’t been done in a democratic way.

paddyann, I understand exactly what you mean about an English parliament.
As Aveline has made clear, it is a UK parliament, however, as the majority of MPS are English and it is a very large majority, Scots MPS will be voices crying in the wilderness and have little or no influence. For that reason, you could say that it is an English parliament, with one country having the majority vote.

At least with devolution, we can have some influence in how our country is run.

Scotland has a much smaller population than England. Westminster, is the United Kingdom parliament and all parts of the United Kingdom are represented there with seats in proportion to their population. It is not an English parliament.

Behind Westminster are your *Urmstongrans" who think WE should SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN ...because they obviously know more about Scotland and her people than we do .

It would be wrong for him to leave during war in Europe, he says. A tourist once asked me if the coast they could see across the Bristol Channel from Somerset was France.

Coastpath we've been to England today and, looking across the Channel, it was as if Wales had sailed away into the Atlantic
It was nowhere to be seen.

Wales has a habit of drifting off when it feels like it. One day so clear I can see houses and the wind turbines turning on the cliff tops and then next day nothing! I hope it's not something we've said.

And yes, I knew exactly what you meant. Hope you had a lovely day in Somerset and sorry we couldn't have laid on better weather for you.
