Where would we be without humour?
Count Binface has a letter in today’s Times! 😂

She has tested positive with mild symptoms, let’s hope it stays that way. I truly hope she comes through it.
Those of you with faith maybe say a little prayer ??

Hear, hear GG
I don't think anybody on here has been whinging about the Queen. A lot of us have lost family, not seen family for months, but it doesn't preclude expressing sympathy and good wishes to a very elderly lady who has been a public figure for 70 years and whom a lot of us feel a good deal of affection for.
God save the Queen, bless her soul.

“ The thread title is The Queen has Covid .
No mention of having to stick strictly to expressing sympathy”
Naughty did say it was making her stomach churn reading our ‘whinging’ over the Queen. Seems strange to read stuff that causes such a reaction. Most unpleasant and best avoided!

Well Naughty why did you read the thread if you feel like that? It's for people who wish to express concern or good wishes for the Queen.

I am sorry she has it, but it is seemingly mild and she does have a huge support system it must be said.
I don’t ration sympathy
Save your sympathy...
Thankfully sympathy, like love, isn't finite but increases as the need for it arises. I didn't love my first child less because he gained siblings, and I can be sympathetic to any number of people. A 95 year old woman with Covid is a concern, even when the symptoms are mild. Of course the Queen will be receiving the best medical care available, but withdrawing it from her wouldn't improve anyone else's lot one iota. I wish her and everyone who is ill a speedy recovery.
I don't believe that she contracted Covid from Charles as it was 2 weeks ago he was ill, not yesterday, and it's very mean spirited of people to hint at this (especially if she becomes seriously unwell - or worse). it has been reported that there have been several cases of Covid in Windsor Castle in the past month, so Charles could have caught it there! I really do hope that the Queen recovers but, over the past year, she has looked far more fragile and frail than she did the year before and is it any wonder?? All the upset around Harry; losing her beloved husband Phillip; now the upset around Andrew. It would test the mettle of any mother/grandmother, but far more so of someone in their 90's. I just have a horrible feeling that, even if she recovers from Covid, she may not make her Jubilee celebrations, or certainly not make the next Christmas. I hope I'm wrong.

In fact it adds to my long held belief that Charlotte will be Queen one day.
Is that because believe George won’t want to be King? Certainly Charlotte is a lot more outgoing than her brother.

It isn't the women in her family though is it? it's always the men.
Yes, I’d never really thought of that.
It should be Queen Anne shouldn’t it? I think that would ‘unite the nation’
Absolutely so Fanny Cornforth (and JaneJudge)
Dickens if I hung my washing out today I would be driving round the County to retrieve it item by item. It is still extremely windy here in S E Essex ?????
People are hanging around outside Windsor Castle?
I understand she dislikes talking about her health publicly and probably doesn't like a fuss to be made. I guess she's grateful for their concern, but would possibly prefer to be ill in private, so to speak.
NaughtyNantheRed do you have an hierarchical list of those for whom you have sympathy? It’s a bit mean spirited if you do. Most people extend their sympathy towards those who need it; all those on your list probably.
I’m sorry about your loss, and all those including me who lost someone during lockdown, but it doesn’t stop me sympathising with others who are suffering.

“Light duties ” means signing the odd bit of paper not pegging out the washing.
... oh, flip... thanks for reminding me... I meant to hang it out early this morning and it's still in the machine... we have no rain here.
I wish the Queen all the best and get over it asap.
NaughtNantheRed Yes, we all suffered in some way , some more than others and you have had a particularly bitter experience. I am sorry that you have endured this, as one human being to another, because we can all imagine or empathise with what you have gone through. Suffering isn't a competition and one that has a compassion scale adjusted by how rich or priviliged an individual is; pain is pain and loss is loss, and no amount of money, property and so on takes away the despair and loneliness people feel at these times. The Queens' particular cross is that she has to live out the times of loss, grief and scandal so publicly.
Save your sympathy for all those elderly ladies who did not see their families for months on end
I've never understood why sympathy, good wishes, kindness and thought for others has to be limited.
Bless her heart. I hope she gets better really soon
I feel sorry for anyone with Covid and older people are especially vulnerable.
We can only hope and pray that the Queen’s symptoms don’t develop into full blown Covid.
She is an exceptional lady and I wish her a speedy recovery.

That's me! Still haven't seen some of them after two and a half years, thank you for your kind thoughts NaughtyNan
But I can still wish an even more elderly woman a good recovery.
NaughtyNantheRed
The Queen will be discussed because she's the Queen. Nothing more than that really. Many of us went through loss and despair due to being unable to see family members. We've all suffered in one way or another. Having sympathy towards the Queen does not mean people don't have sympathy to anyone else who has had Covid or had to isolate etc etc.
I'm sorry to hear about your brother. We were in a similar position with my OH"s sister. It was quite awful that we couldn't visit. Couldn't even get to the funeral.
But I am still able to hope that the Queen recovers quickly.
Sorry if I just made your stomach churn.
Well Naughty why did you read the thread if you feel like that? It's for people who wish to express concern or good wishes for the Queen.
What is wrong with you lot..... the queen has very mild flu-like symptoms. Save your sympathy for the horrors at the beginning of the pandemic...the hard-working people in the NHS, all those unsuspecting elderly discharged from hospital and spreading covid killing thousands. People like me unable to see a dying brother before he passed away. Untold thousands of families bereft and distraught. Government failures towards the NHS and the people of this country ...yet.....the Queen has massive wealth and medical support par excellence, so what's the problem? Save your sympathy for all those elderly ladies who did not see their families for months on end and those who died alone without a hand to hold this whingeing about the Queen makes my stomach churn.
