One feels this whole thing is pathetic. The child was not 'trampled' but stepped over and the soldier subsequently returned to ensure he was ok. He isn't a toddler and shouldn't have been standing in their path. His parents should have moved him. He immediately got to his feet, apparently unharmed from being stepped over.

I think we all agree on this one, which makes to a pleasant change! As has been said, certain newspapers will use completely over the top emotional language to describe usually mildly inconvenient or slightly unfortunate events. Favorites are bombshell, heartbreak (the Queens altered Christmas arrangements apparently caused her to be heartbroken!!) Smash is another favorite, thus this poor guardsmen 'trampling' on this child is yet another idiotic comment from out increasingly idiotic media

A similar scene is enacted many times a day in my house, with a cat instead of a child. Our mog manages to be under our feet all the blooming time, anyone would think he enjoyed being stepped on. ??

One feels that the parents of the badly behaved child should be bringing him up better.

The Royal Guard have made it clear in previous incidents that they are there on duty and will draw their weapons if people don't stand back when told to. They are not just toy soldiers, they are protecting the Royal family or premises. There have been incidents where they have drawn their weapons on members of the dopey public who have gone too far.

MOD response to the incident:

The Guardsmen on duty warned members of the public that a patrol was approaching but the child unfortunately ran out in front of the soldier unexpectedly. The soldier tried to step over the child and continued on his duty.
“Following the incident, the soldier checked on the child and was reassured that all was well.

As previously stated, soldiers are not there as a tourist attraction; they're on duty and have a job to do. Get in their way and you suffer the consequences. The parents of this child are 100% responsible for the incident.

How stupid of me...

I watched closely , the boy was not trampled on! He was old enough to know that running in front of the Queens guard was foolish. The guard made every effort to step over the child and asked later about the boys welfare .
