Farage makes me think of the bloke you always see outside the Wetherspoons at 11.30 on a weekday morning. There he sits already halfway down his first pint of the day in a faggy tweed jacket under a cloud of eggy beer fart.
The only person who will give him the time of day is the already drunk, aggressive bloke with no analytical skills and the ‘Fit in or F**k off’ T-shirt stretched over his beer gut.
I avoid All Day Lager bloke for the same reasons I avoid Farage. I’ve heard what he’s got to say many times before and it’s always the same bitter, ugly story that boils down to the fact that he is scared of anything that might take away from his right to the privileges enjoyed by white men his age.

RNLI and Farage
(342 Posts)I am finding it difficult to get my brain around the concept, that there are people in this country who would rather let a world wide respected maritime organisation see people drown than save them.
I just hope that Farage criticising them for doing their job ensures that they have the best year yet from donations.

This has just turned into a hate Farage fest including any poster who has an opposing view. Some of the assumptions being made are ludicrous.
Assumptions? I guess you could include the assumptions that those of us who were commenting on the video hadn't watched it.
Or that the people coming across in boats would cause our taxes to rise by 20%? Or that the country is "full"?
Or that Farage is a disinterested observer? There's an assumption I wouldn't go along with.

In the GB News programme, Nigel Farage also stated that he was proud to have helped the RNLI to raise money in the past.
He wasn't having a dig at the RNLI, he was annoyed that the French were doing so little at stopping these boats leaving the coast, and also about the traffickers who are paid £1000s for a place on a dinghy or whatever.
How biased this thread has become!
And no-one has questioned about what will happen to these people once reaching the UK shore.
How many houses will need to be built?
How much NHS help will be needed?
Which schools will their children attend?
We are a small over-populated country, our resources are bursting at the seams! When they reach the shore all those posters in favour of them coming are going to-
Pay an extra 20% tax
Share their house
Not complain if they can’t get an NHS appointment because the service is oversubscribed
Agree to have umpteen houses built on the green belt around them because there is nowhere else.
And the rest. No complaints.?
Judging by all past experience, when ‘these people’ reach shore they will:
Build our houses and then decorate them, mend our plumbing, clean our windows, mow our lawns etc
Work in our NHS
Do well in our schools and universities and go on to be teachers, doctors, nurses, social workers, care home workers, town planners, conservationists, lorry drivers fruit pickers, prison officers etc
And when they do they will pay tax like everyone else.
Oh dear, people dont agree with his veiws but we live in a democracy and he is entitled to say whatever he wants to say its called free speech!
None of this ?

WWM which is why I'm amazed at so many people believing him. Shocked even.
What do you mean ‘ believing him’. He hasn’t made this up. It’s news which he’s just reporting on. None other of this is making any sense to me.

No, I don't wish Farage dead, but I do despair at the huge number of people on GN and otherwise who agree with his loathsome views.
The topic of this thread isn’t about his views. It’s him highlighting news, which I hadn’t seen before personally. His views on things are a completely different conversation.

DiscoDancer1975 If you are going to use scare tactics (an increase of 20% income tax) do please to use some accurate figures please. Also' there is no need to build on green belt land. It's just easier for developers to do that' rather than brown field sites which cost money to clear.
Finally, there are people who have done so or are sharing their homes with refugees.
I didn’t say that! WWM did.
Farage is a racist, opportunistic, self publicist.
The crews of the RNLI risk their own lives to save lives,
No contest who to support.
I am taking heart though.
If you think about it they lost the argument over “taking the knee” and the English football team, and they seem to have lost the argument over this.
It seems that the culture wars they are constantly fighting to try to divide the country has been misplaced over these two issues.
Most people are anti-racist and are instinctively humane.
Oh I do hope this continues to be the case and the drive to divide our country fails

At the risk of making myself unpopular with everyone, I don't think its right to wish death on the man. He's an obnoxious twit but wishing he'd get lost on a boat on the channel or stop breathing just plays into the hands of those who think he's a martyr and a jolly good chap.
Criticise his politics and his attitude to the EU, to refugees, whatever, but wishing him dead doesn't help.
My thoughts on gb not being worth watching seems to be borne out by what I have gathered the moron Farage has said, on that channel. As a sailor and singer I have raised quite an amount for the RNLI over the years. I dont think that Farage is worth the breath to talk about. Ignoring him totally is the best we can all do with the hope that he might stop talking offensive rubbish, or with luck just might stop breathing!
I think its confirmation bias Dinahmo. People want to believe what he says, so they do. Its comforting to have a set of people to blame.
I'm shocked too, and a bit sad. What have we come to?
WWM which is why I'm amazed at so many people believing him. Shocked even.

How do you know that Farage is telling the truth? He lied a lot over Brexit and immgraton in the past; Do remember the hoarding with the Breaking Point slogan from 2016?
Toadinthehole every time there has been a rescue of refugees by the RNLI it has been shown on the tv news. We see film of dogs being rescued or people swept out to sea by strong currents so do you really think that the refugee rescues aren't shown?
Finally, I just googled Farage and fake news and the first page had reports from a number of different news organisations calling him out.
It is incredibly easy to find so much of his exploits over the years.
He is a fraudster and deeply unpleasant individual.

There are some really screwed up people posting here!
Oh I agree
I meant people posting wild unsubstantiated accusations and accusing people of lying with no evidence. I've never done that myself. Have you?
No

Every cloud has a silver lining
Donations to the RNLI are up by at least 3,000%!
Well done Nigel - have you never heard of the The Law of Unintended Consequences? It needs to be up, as Holysox says, they’re going to need more boats. Only hope they have enough people to man them.
More boats?
No, it really is the duty of the Government, the coastguard and Naval patrol vessels and this needs to be sorted out as a matter of urgency so that the RNLI are not first in line although, of course, they will never refuse to answer a distress call.
Brexit is neither useful or beneficial to anyone other than Farage.
