Good choice of names! tcrsmile ?

Anniebach Fri 11-Jun-21 10:01:07

As well as who ?

JaneJudge Fri 11-Jun-21 09:58:09

William's daughter has the middle names Elizabeth Diana as well

Anniebach Fri 11-Jun-21 09:57:02

Do you Algrias1 ?

Alegrias1 Fri 11-Jun-21 09:54:03

If I was to come on here and say it was time for William to shut up, I'd get hammered. Not that I would, I have more manners.

Telling people to shut up tells us a lot about the poster.

(ps - Sussexes)

Anniebach Fri 11-Jun-21 09:48:16

All the more reason for the Sussex’s to shut up

trisher Fri 11-Jun-21 09:42:07

Would you carry out your work without pay or expenses?
I do Callistemon and so do thousands of others. It's called volunteering. Having enough income to live a reasonable (if not extravagant) life I've chosen to work for a number of different charitable organisations since I retired. The RF certainly has enough cash to keep them all comfortably without any other support. And still they need more

Anniebach Fri 11-Jun-21 09:41:08

Well said Smileless , a couple who left the country, wanted privacy, didn’t want the life of being a royal yet use their family
for publicity to make money, even using The Queen , how can
anyone defend this .

Smileless2012 Fri 11-Jun-21 09:16:28

There's no comparison with Edward's past behaviour to Harry's.

Smacks of desperation to criticise a mature, intelligent and sensitive interview while defending H & M not just for that pathetic excuse for an interview with Oprah, but H's relentless attacks on his family.

There may well be 1000's of girls called Lilibet in the US but none of them are the GGD of our Queen who was given that name by her father, a name used by her husband of 70 years who has only recently died, and is now being used by the GS who has trashed her and the rest of her family.

There's no evidence that Edward is today a financial liability, but plenty of evidence of the supportive role both he and his wife Sophie in particular, are to the Queen.

Many families are blessed with family members coming together to offer support, others are less fortunate with family members sticking the knife in. Bad enough when it happens in private; beyond cruel when it's done on the world stage for 'fame' and fortune.

That's interesting Avalon, so if the Queen has backed the BBC, I wonder if H will sue her too.

25Avalon Fri 11-Jun-21 08:29:53

H&M threatened the BBC for saying the Queen had not agreed to the name. Now the Queen has come out and backed the BBC if what I have read is true. If so it suggests, to me anyway, that the Queen is not happy about having her pet name used. It is after all only 2 months since the last person to call her that passed away. I think I would find it disrespectful if someone in the family used my pet name especially without asking.

I wonder if there will be lots of little girls called Lilibet soon.

The Crown ? explains much

Excuse me?

Whatdayisit Thu 10-Jun-21 23:00:31

As someone who has never bought a tabloid newspaper i am not invested in the way they behave. That was what they did but they obviously feel they have to play the game to keep their position. Even after they exit.
There is a trough and they all have their faces in it to different degrees.

The Crown ? explains much

Callistemon Thu 10-Jun-21 22:42:56

lemsip I know what Edward has said today. It just amuses me that he behaved so badly but has been accepted back just because he became another sponging member of the RF. I suppose if it all goes wrong in the US for Meghan and Harry people will be perfectly. happy and forgive them everything.

So many misconceptions on here.

spongeing? In what way?
Should members of the RF not be paid expenses for carrying out duties on behalf of the Head of State?

Would you carry out your work without pay or expenses?

Summerlove Thu 10-Jun-21 22:38:30

Yes Trisher he really caused a mess for William after the press agreed to leave him alone in exchange for token photocalls. Then Uncle Edward stormed up there cashing in on his nephew.

I did enjoy the episode of The Crown where The Queen is puzzled that Phillip insinuates she has a favourite.

What a fascinating world we live in when it’s deemed completely normal to allow the press to blackmail people into routine photo calls in exchange for leaving them alone. It’s so strange to me that people defend this as some thing that’s completely normal

trisher Thu 10-Jun-21 22:37:16

Annie I'm not accusing anyone. The evidence is there -he did it. Has Harry been making films about his family members?

Summerlove Thu 10-Jun-21 22:35:10

That ship has sailed trisher. I don’t think Andrew will ever be ‘trotted out again.’

Give it 5 years.
People have short memories

Anniebach Thu 10-Jun-21 22:11:07

trisher you accuse Edward of trying to make money by using his royal connections yet defend Harry for doing much worse,

Whatdayisit Thu 10-Jun-21 21:58:13

Edward was in an interview about his father's work and death just before his 100th birthday........of course, he was asked about the rift and all he said was ........."It's difficult for everyone but that's families for you," he says. and he wished them happiness.

surprised people reply to posts without checking it out

trisher Thu 10-Jun-21 21:24:06

Edward never launched verbal attacks on his family No he just tried to use his royal connections to make money and further his sad attempt to make TV programmes. And he didn't succeed in that. He had to be bailed out. Still he's a nice chap and the queen likes him, so who cares if he's just a financial liability.

maddyone Thu 10-Jun-21 11:43:08

Totally agree Annie and Jabberwok.

Jabberwok Thu 10-Jun-21 11:38:42

Exactly Annie. I didn't hear Edward this morning as we don't listen to daytime TV, but reading what he said was clearly tactful and eminently sensible. There may well be a lot of children in America with this particular name, but none of them have this particular G.Grandmother or relations. This fact will be borne by this little girl in particular for her whole life. No privacy or unobtrusive life for her with that name. I'm sure Harry mentioned it to the Queen, but I'm guessing that using her nickname was not made clear and that she assumed it would be one of her birth names. Like Archwell, I expect it will have commercial value, so true to form it will be exploited no matter what the Queen thinks. Using a 95 year old and a new born baby! beyond belief . Today would have been Prince Philips 100th birthday, but hey,who cares about that when there's money to be made.

Anniebach Thu 10-Jun-21 11:19:08

Edward never launched verbal attacks on his family and my reference to him being a sensible man was made after listening
to his interview this morning.

Wish more publicly was given to the work he and Sophie does
and not Haz and Meg doing sod all except hurting their families and wallowing in self pity.
