Does that make sense ? There would not be such a film if there weren’t a royal family?

I was thinking this morning as I watched the Trooping of the Colour, that we'd lose so much if we didn't have the RF as would H&M.

Really! The daughter of a party goods manufacturer who married well but has no other qualifications, qualities or experiences to recommend her is more interested in children and their education than herself!!! Oh come on surely no one in this age believes such stuff!

Personally, I'd be more included to support a charity with Lily Allen supporting them, rather than one with an entitled aristocrat.

So, a girl group or a young male rapper rock up to visit a primary school and try to show an interest in something other than themselves, how many fns would turn up?
Star struck teenagers, missing the point of the visit entirely?

If the Duchess of Cambridge turns up, people are interested in what she has to say and know that she is more interested in the children and their education then she is in herself.

There are exceptions, eg Marcus Rashford but his interests and excellent contributions are not as wide ranging. Perhaps one day.

So, who would fund the celebs to attend charity functions?
Presumably the charities themselves would have to do that, most certainly wouldn't fund it themselves.

If my tiny contribution of tax funds a member of the RF attending a worthwhile charity event, I am very relaxed about that.

Perhaps that says more about your age and social position than anything else. Younger people would certainly turn out in greater numbes for celebrities and I think a few older ones would as well.

Charities do not benefit from royal patronage it was found by an independent report from Giving Evidence. Royals do not visit over 70% of charities only thoses they have an interest in and are all near to where they live.

The Royal family seem to be great encouragers whose attendance and interest in a whole host of organisations large and small are really valued.

And then at least it would be possible to see those doing real work for charities with no remuneration and those who expect to be paid. It would also draw a clear line between state duties and charitable ones.

It does seem to be a case of supply and demand, trisher.

If there was no demand for their services then they would not need to supply.

The demand doesn't seem to be decreasing despite a minority of Republicans wishing it to be so.

I am puzzled why HM should be expected to do that.

No because a Head of State would be an individual and not a "Firm" as our RF like to refer to themselves apparently. They would therefore be paid for the work they did . They would not have many houses, house their extended family, use their family or other wise expend public money for their own purposes. If they undertook charity work it would be real charity work and not something they are already paid for. They would not bail out relatives who got into financial difficulties and dish jobs out to them. As it is the Firm is an out of date expanding anachronism which needs to be completely restructured or removed.
