Didn't the BBC just report that a royal aide had said that? Surely that isn't the same as saying it is true?

Of course it could be a misunderstanding, Harry telling granny they were going to name baby after her and she was happy but thought they meant Elizabeth, or Harry told her it was Lilibet and she didn't object which isn't the same as her approving or something along those lines.

I used to be a manager in HR and the number of times I have done an investigation and it was a misunderstanding where both sides thought they were right.

Have we lost the plot on this thread entitled Lilibet what have wedding veils got to do with the birth of a new child?

Do forgive me, I forgot that all we are allowed to do is to keep repeating ourselves ad nauseaum.

I'll leave you to it again.

I've just checked, and it's true. He has threatened to sue the BBC through law firm Schillings for reporting that he had not asked the Queen about using her name for baby Lili.

I would have thought he had more important things to be doing this week.

Grandmajean Wed 09-Jun-21 14:58:34

I've missed that ! What is Harry angry about now ?

Aveline Wed 09-Jun-21 14:52:43

My God. What will it take?!

Anniebach Wed 09-Jun-21 13:46:52

Will we get Haz suing the BBC and the Queen be called to defend him ?

Ellianne Wed 09-Jun-21 13:32:07

Really? Harry needs to get over himself.

well harry's waging war with the bbc now threatening legal action

Well he’s got to do something to keep them in the public eye while they’re on parental leave.

GrannyLaine Wed 09-Jun-21 13:28:56

I have in my mind a persistent image of Her Majesty stomping around in some far flung area of the palace, kicking various bits of furniture and muttering "FFS" repeatedly sad

Judy54 the plot went missing long ago. I expect Julie Burchill to pop up any minute.

I understood that the veil is to protect the bride from evil spirits….

Hasn’t worked for Meghan then…

Meg has uncles who were not invited, her mother could have walked with her,

She walked the nave on her own, Charles met her to escort her
through the Chancel

JaneJudge Wed 09-Jun-21 11:58:34

This has got a bit serious

NotSpaghetti Wed 09-Jun-21 11:33:00

janejudge I understood that the veil is to protect the bride from evil spirits by disguising her. That’s why she has bridesmaids too - so the devil doesn't know which one she is.

Maybe I’m wrong?

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 09-Jun-21 10:44:05

Anniebach

Brides hold the arm of the person walking with her , Meg chose to walk on her own,

Think back - her father decided not to attend so Meghan walked part of the way herself, and Charles took her the rest. At the time she was much admired for how she reacted to her father’s behaviour.

maddyone Wed 09-Jun-21 10:41:34

Lucca what you actually said was

…a royal bride with no veil might have been criticised…..

annodomini Wed 09-Jun-21 10:41:07

Done it again. Sorry.

annodomini Wed 09-Jun-21 10:40:42

JJ, I always assumed that the veil was supposed to indicate modesty. I didn't wear mine over my face. 'Modest'? Moi?

I wore a veil btw but it didn't go over my face, it just swished about at the back like I was a pony out for the gymkhana

I don't understand the significance of veil wearing, can someone please explain?

Someone used my name in the in my family and I did think it was a bit weird tbh

FannyCornforth Wed 09-Jun-21 10:30:28

You couldn't wear one with glasses could you
