I just wish they would go away and have the quiet life they said they wanted! Instead they continue to stir the pot together with our populist press. There are many more important events than this nonsense.

Perhaps Meghan phoned her mum while Harry was phoning his gran?

Aveline Wed 09-Jun-21 20:43:44

Och business is business. Phoning the Queen first is a more commercial story. Cynical? Moi?

Callistemon Wed 09-Jun-21 20:14:41

Perhaps her mother was there with her

BBC website still featuring the story but also that the Queen was the first person Harry phoned.

I'd have thought they would phone her mother first.

Sparklefizz Wed 09-Jun-21 19:43:30

There's a big difference between asking the Queen if she minds, and telling her the chosen names as a fait accompli.

It was 'sources close to the Queen' rather snookering the usual 'sources close to the Sussexs'!

Anniebach Wed 09-Jun-21 18:33:50

If the BBC repeat it he will sue, if it was true the person who said it will have to speak out , or the BBC will have to name the source.

Expect the BBC will not repeat it and it will be taken Haz was
speaking the truth, no matter if it’s a lie.

^Didn't the BBC just report that a royal aide had said that? Surely that isn't the same as saying it is true?^

the worried well I meant it's true that H is threatening to sue the BBC.

Oh yes, I realised you meant the BBC, I just meant can he accuse them of anything if they are just truthfully reporting what someone at Buckingham Palace said.

I taught a child in London in 1965 called Lillette.
Another girl was called Novalette.

Any Omelettes?

It was Charles's friend Nicholas Soames who called diana a 'loose cannon ' he has since apologised.. NOT the courtiers. He was mp at the time she went to Afghanistan

Sorry, I stand corrected.

Lucca what you actually said was

^…a royal bride with no veil might have been criticised…..^

Yes “ might”.

Anyway I don’t get what I’ve said so wrong.

Courtiers used to call Diana a ‘loose cannon’.

Think H&M are a complete artillery, if that’s the correct phrase.

Callistemon Wed 09-Jun-21 16:13:08

The American way.

I'll be accused of being bitchy but I do wonder if Harry is being brainwashed.
He needed to come to terms with his problems and, being so involved with the Invictus Games, I would have thought working with some of service men and women would have given him a reality check about facing difficulties with courage and optimism.

On a trip to the Warrior Games in the USA in 2013, HRH The Duke of Sussex saw first-hand how the power of sport can help physically, psychologically and socially those suffering from injuries and illness. He was inspired by his visit and the Invictus Games was born.

^The word ‘invictus’ means ‘unconquered’. It embodies the fighting spirit of wounded, injured and sick Service personnel and personifies what these tenacious men and women can achieve post injury. The Games harness the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who serve their country.

Instead he is wallowing and taking himself far too seriously.

Chewbacca Wed 09-Jun-21 16:05:23

They're a litigious couple aren't they? I'll bet there lawyers love them and rub their hands with glee! grin

janejudge I understood that the veil is to protect the bride from evil spirits by disguising her. That’s why she has bridesmaids too - so the devil doesn't know which one she is.

Maybe I’m wrong?

That's really interesting and I'd not heard that before.

Traditionally I thought the groom lifted the veil just after the ceremony so that he could kiss his bride.
There is also a tradition that church weddings should take place before it got dark so that the vicar could make sure he was marrying the right couple.

If so and the bride was wearing the veil until after the ceremony, the vicar couldn't be sure the bride hadn't been substituted.
