Prince Philip has died

Harry’s coming home, but without Meghan.
I wonder where he will stay?

One afternoon of reflection about the life of a man who gave so much of himself to our queen and country.

Such sad news and I consider myself privileged to have witnessed the years of dedication he gave his wife and country.

R.I.P. and condolences to our Queen and family.He has worked hard in supporting the Queen and although a great age, always a sad farewell.

It is sad for his family but I'm sure he wouldn't want a fuss why it needs to be on every television station all repeating the same thing .

Unusual if he is buried in Frogmore, surely the queen will not be

Just very sad news- the end of an era and the winds of change are coming sadly.

I agree Ourkid he has been there all my life just getting on with his duty supporting the Queen.
No state funeral as per his wishes and due to the pandemic.

I heard it’s not going to be a state funeral, we aren’t allowed big funerals anyway are we? Or is there a different rule for royals? A private family affair would be appropriate I think.

Sad news, I’m in awe of the Queen carrying out duties recently in spite of all that is going on in her life.

I’m not an ardent royalist but I was very sorry to hear this, especially for the Queen.

Odd, isn't it. I was thinking that perhaps it would be made a public holiday; but if it's a holiday people will expect places to be open for their entertainment...

I feel sad about his death, too. It's another part of our lives that's gone. But I think that the media are going a bit OTT... I'm sure it wasn't like this when the Queen Mum died.

I wondered when he was released from hospital if it was just to die at home. He's lucky many don't get that. RIP.

My thought too. He was a one-off to be sure.

The BBC isn't alone. ITV. Channel 4 and Channel 5 are all wall to wall with it as well. It's a shame he didn't reach the 100 but I suspect he would have thought it was a lot of faff.

It’s sad news for the family, but I think the BBC have gone into overdrive with never ending programmes about him, not much we didn’t already know of course. Plus I’ve just had an email from the RHS saying they would close their gardens on the day of the funeral - why? It’s not going to be a state funeral, he said he didn’t want a fuss, I’m sure he’d rather the gardens remained open. It’s not as if any of us will be going.

Such a sad day for the Queen. He was her rock.

The Duke of Edinburgh award has helped so many young people including my grandson who won his award a few years ago.

I’m another one feeling sad and very sorry he didn’t make it to his century. He took a lot of stick over the years for making some very un-PC comments but in many ways he was a real innovator and of course the Queen’s unwavering support. RIP.

I second that adaunas. I sincerely hope she is allowed the privacy anyone would need at such a time and isn’t pressured to show her emotions in public.

I'm one of those who often say "I'm not a Royalist." Nevertheless, I feel surprisingly upset by this news. Maybe it's because he's one of those people who were just there, getting on with things and one expects them to go on doing just that.

I too have been surprised by how saddened I am by this news. I feel so sorry for the Queen, left on her own and with few, if any, of her contemporaries still alive.
Prince Philip didn’t have an easy life but what a legacy he has left to the young people of this country. The ‘D of E’ has given focus and purpose to so many young lives, including my DDs.

Sorry to hear this. I wondered whether he had really recovered after the last illness. RIP Prince Philip
