Very ill. Anyone in a lesser job who spoke and behaved as he has done would have received damning work assessments long ago and been put on "gardening leave" until they had sought medical advice (and followed it!)
If he is not ill, then he is evil.

The other title is totally out of sink- this is orchestrated fascism
(219 Posts)in the USA, right not. Let's not talk about 'throwing toys out of pram'.
Never forget the armed thugs and domestic terrorists currently storming the Capitol in Washington DC, didn’t come from nowhere.
They are the end result of a carefully orchestrated strategy to destabilise the US, allowed to work by the power-greed and self-interest of politicians and media pundits, at least some of whom knew what Trump was and that his dog whistle fascism was very wrong.
There are many, many connections between Trump’s story and the people currently running the U.K. - not just similarities but the same shadowy figures, the same strategies, the same data harvesting and dark disinformation campaigns.
Trump apparently still spinning lies, saying that the insurrectors were Antifa.
What I think that people are forgetting is that the man is mentally ill.
Republicans were desperately trying to reach him during the insurrection, but he refused to take calls as he was watching and enjoying the insurrection.
He is ill.
He's a very brave man
No wonder there are few candidates willing to come forward in a country with such a large population.
If all goes very quiet pro tem that is more ominous, I think.
Insurrection planned in every state
Armed insurrection seems to be a real danger
Absolutely terrifying, a mammoth task for Biden, including first of all, “cleansing the Augean stables” .
I think that the situation is far worse than is apparent, and that is bad enough.
I saw on CNN that it is unprecedented that neither the FBI nor Department of Justice have held any press conferences. I am also wondering about the suicide of The Capitol police officer, did he know too much? Hopefully not, I've just been watching too many episodes of Homeland and the poor man couldn’t cope with what he witnessed. The acting Head Of Homeland Security who has resigned is a recent Trump appointee and this concerns me a lot. I just wish they would scale down The Inauguration and have it in a secret location.
Don’t forget that the security leaders have recently been put into place by Trump
Well, I dithered about opening a new Trump thread but frankly in view of the FBI report of what is threatening to be a fascist uprising on the 20th this belongs here.
The secret service are warning of
No security leaders are answering or explaining the incidents on the 6th. Some have stepped aside and none have answered questions.
Police officers have been arrested for complicity.
Snipers , suicide type aircraft, and armed drones are all thought to be a danger.

I think a great many people have been seeing the similarities for years.
The modus operandi is the the same and a lot of the key 'actors' belong to a transatlantic network of wealthy right wingers who are hung up on acquiring wealth and power and who have no regard for the condition of the creators of their wealth. They are the 'Sovereign Individuals' who have no interest in community, humanity and interdependency.
Jacob Rees Mogg's father wrote the book about it...

I’m hoping he gets charged and put into prison before he has a chance to cause more serious problems with democracy in the USA
From the web
President Donald Trump tweeted from the official @POTUS Twitter account Friday evening shortly after the social media company permanently banned his personal account, @realDonaldTrump.
But Twitter almost immediately deleted the tweets, in which Trump railed against the tech company, Democrats, and Section 230, and said he was considering building his own social media platform.
Live news from CNN
"House Democrats are planning to introduce an impeachment resolution on Monday, a move that would allow Democrats to fast-track an impeachment vote next week, though Democrats have not committed yet to holding such a vote. The latest draft of the impeachment resolution, obtained by CNN, includes one article of impeachment for "incitement of insurrection."
"Every day that he remains in office, he is a danger to the Republic, and he should leave office immediately, through resignation, the 25th Amendment or impeachment," Schiff said in the statement."
He won't go quietly.
No, I don't think he will either Callistemon. I can't help wondering what his Russian friends will do to continue to destabilise the country. And Trump is mad enough to go along with them. (Imo)

For an observation of the bleeding obvious this is up there with the best of them!
Not so bleedingly obvious when it's happening in the UK and everyone is closing their eyes to it...
No, not in exactly the same way, but a lot of the 'philosopphy' and methodologies are very similar.
They have the same background influences in common. Putin for a start. Johnson gave a peerage to the son of a Russian KGB officer. Trump was in hock to the Russians... (i.e owed them a lot of money)
Yes, I realise that, but it is still an odd system.
If they apply the rule of Trump, he would not have won 4 years ago.
It seems to be the Disunited States of America at the moment.
He won't go quietly.
To be fair to Avalon, I don't think it would matter one iota what voting system was used,
Well, as she seems to be querying the whole thing this time, I think you're agreeing with me, Chewbacca. It wouldn't matter because there was nothing wrong with the vote.
Callistemon
^They all make their own rules on their voting systems and they run a number of different systems between them^
Odd
I know it seems odd, but, the states have sovereignty. They very much make many of their own laws. Did you miss my analogy with voting for MEPs? No-one thinks that all the member states' different voting arrangements are 'odd'. The USA is a Federation of states, not a single country (or even a 'Union' of countries) ruled from the centre.
My mother was studying in Munich in 1932- it took her a while to realise what was going on and return home
Lucky her to return to the sanctuary of a neutral country.
My father fought facism.
FIL lost his life doing just that
Do we really have to point that out?
They all make their own rules on their voting systems and they run a number of different systems between them
Odd
To be fair to Avalon, I don't think it would matter one iota what voting system was used, Trump would only agree with the result if he was the winner. He's so mentally unstable (imo) that any incidence of him losing anything, tips him over the edge into insanity; he just can't cope with losing anything. Not exactly a positive character trait for an elected position of power. I wish they'd get him gone now before he does any more harm.
merlotgran

best laugh I've had all day!
25Avalon
I only have sympathy for Trump if he can prove voting was rigged which it seems he can’t. I don’t have sympathy for the scenes we saw yesterday. I would like to see more of a water tight system of vote counting so we avoid these situations.
What is not 'watertight' about 'the system' ( in fact, which of the systems are you talking about?)
Why this election?
Which Americans aren't happy about their system (apart from the Trump adherents)?
You're throwing out these assertions with no evidence for them. A bit like Trump, really...
