Oh, apologies then MazieD. This matter is a bit of a sore subject with me. I find it incredible that working people can find themselves in a situation such as this through nothing else but crass stupidity. ?

In the decade before the referendum fewer than 10% of the population had any interest in the UK. Yet we now have Leavers posting on here (and on all other social media) utterly hysterical at the thought of being involved in any way at all with the EU (apart from taking lovely holidays in Europe). I actually have some admiration for the concerted Leave campaigners who have managed to whip up such a frenzy. To the extent that not only are some Leavers refighting WW1 & WW2, but also the Napoleonic Wars with xenophobic comments about the French. [grin

But I am still utterly baffled by how people have let themselves be manipulated and by how they seem to be happy with destroying peoples livelihoods, creating hardship and destroying the dignity and reputation of the UK.

Then having the cheek to tell Remainers not to get angry...

It certainly adds a new dimension to sh*t show.

I read today that people won't be able to take certain foods into the EU (I forgot that it used to be like that), so drivers could always use their empty lunch boxes.

Very much so biba70. I was trying to keep my post on the subject at least half decent as "the other stuff" is being thrown out onto the side of the M20 in plastic bags.

I do not remember any leavers warning us all that this would be what we all should expect as part of Brexit.

This government have been so desperate to “get Brexit done”, or pretend to, to keep the Kippers happy, that they are happy to destroy large swathes of the country and economy. Leave supporters on here have said they are happy with the lorry queues, shortages and job losses as long as Brexit happens, so whilst you have people of that mindset, this self harm will continue and sod the rest of us.

Apparently the software is nowhere near ready and customs are trying to rely on a totally inadequate software package used for when we belonged to the EU.

20-mile truck queue on M20 towards Dover port this morning. This is a major crisis in the making as those vehicles will have return loads of food and other freight waiting to be collected on the other side of the channel.

Many European hauliers are now not undertaking journey work to Britain due to the delays and ongoing uncertainty

They have been building new homes on flood risk areas all over the country for years and 36% of new homes in Kent are, I believe, built on flood plains.

You'd think planners would have learnt something by now.

The EA has no power to prevent this, but is charged to mitigate the damage on a very stretched budget when disaster happens.

The EA also have to satisfy environmentalists, so they didn’t maintain the waterways in Somerset a few years ago causing massive floods.

Yes DS works very closely with environmentalists, climatologists, LAs, archaeologists, Natural England, etc, etc,. There is always a lot of negotiating!!

Actually that is one of the prime reasons why the ERG are so tenacious in their support of Brexit, it would remove their ability avoid taxation.

Has the Erasmus scheme remaining open to U.K. students been agreed yet? Guy Verhofstadt gave a very impassioned speech the other day saying that the EU should not punish the young of the U.K. who in the main do not want Brexit and will eventually be the way for the U.K. to rejoin. I did not hear him mention that it would need to be reciprocated although that may well be the case.
Since the U.K. referendum there is far greater support for the EU - no one wants to have all the customs etc back again. Hungary is causing upset because of the regime and may well be expelled because of its govt but the EU is also very aware of the position of the population.
