She’s stepping down, no matter who is selected as the next leader of the Labour Party.

I think it’s a vote catcher quite honestly.

trisher no condemning the comments on Priti Patel as racist

There aren't any?

Anniebach Tue 25-Feb-20 12:42:11

*trisher, sorry , I meant did you condemn the comments on the Priti Patel thread

trisher Tue 25-Feb-20 12:28:14

Not on this thread Annie as I always pointed out to children we are now discussing what has been said here, bringing up what others have said, at other times, in an attempt to justify wrongdoing just doesn't work. Deal with this issue and I might comment. Which is why GN is much like an infant school class. Unwilling to tackle an issue (possibly because they know they are wrong) some try to deflect the subject. It's just plain boring.

trisher no condemning the comments on Priti Patel as racist ?

trisher Tue 25-Feb-20 10:46:41

WOW POGS you must spend an awful lot of time searching through threads. However having found one or two things posted about other MPs doesn't deflect from the absolute inability of people to recognise the acheivements of Diane Abbot. It is once again on GN an attempt to justify prejudice by saying 'I'm not the only one'. Sometimes GN is so much like a class of infants I could scream!

great post POGS.

'POGS criticising an MP (or PM) for what they do or say is acceptable if their words and actions are genuinely and truthfully reported in the press. Too many are prepared to accept anything the media publish as gospel.'

Of course criticising an MP for what he/she does or say is acceptable. Totally acceptable. Unquestionable.

It is therefore correct to criticise Dianne Abbott for being a hypocrite over her choice of Private education for her own family whilst attacking others for doing the same.

It is correct to criticise Dianne Abbott for defending John Bercow by belittling those who spoke against him, especially as there had been the Dame Laura Cox Inquiry into Bullying and Harrassement and Bercow did not come out of that Inquiry very well did he?

Why not criticise Dianne Abbott because of her history in supporting the IRA.

Why not criticise Dianne Abbott for many other reasons, I could go on.

'Criticising a public figure for their looks, colour, health issues, or worse still deliberately making false statements is despicable (see I have practised my spelling and mastered the word) and probably libellous too. IOW getting personal. Not acceptable.'

It is most certainly not correct to attack public figures for their looks, colour, health issues and deliberately making false statements. I wholeheartedly agree.

But what I cannot abide is those who tell others that is pathetic, playing the man/woman not the ball, whilst they can be the biggest offenders.

If you or any other poster can find where I have spoken of colour, race, personal looks, health issues etc in a derogatory manner I will apologise. Actually I did do it once years ago re Corbyns cap and I apologised on the thread for doing so.

I will give an example.

I looked at just one thread running currently for Priti Patel and do you think these posts are criticising her for her actions or for her looks and character:-

Can I complain about her permanent self satisfied smirk? Oh and complete stupidity? TIA

The main problem with Priti is she’s just not very bright ( and a nasty piece of work).

NotSpaghetti Mon 24-Feb-20 09:10:56
I hope she does go.
She's nasty and not very bright in my opinion

ananimous Mon 24-Feb-20 23:31:32

Diane Abbott...
She’s the biggest asset the Conservative party has to offer

Yehbutnobut Mon 24-Feb-20 23:13:44

My last word on the subject as it would be easy to get obsessional.

Yehbutnobut Mon 24-Feb-20 23:10:25

'POGS minimising the sheer amount of abuse DA received vis-a-via other MPs is just despicable and disgusting.'
-
How was I ' minimising ' the amount of abuse Dianne Abbott received by saying :-

"Dianne Abbott has undoubtedly been trolled and suffered awful racist abuse, received the vilest of threats from social media."

The reason for mentioning the same abuse other MP' s receive was actually more connected to the other part of my post :-

" Perversely there are posters who have been extremely nasty occasionally about MP's they dislike, verging on hate but who do not see themselves as perpetrators whilst chastising others.

Couldn't make it up."

In other words posters who dish it out, are abusive about other MP's but b*****k others for doing as they do are hypocrites but of course they will not see that for themselves because they are the ' Do as I say not Do as I do' brigade.

ananimous Mon 24-Feb-20 22:54:40

Yehbutnobut

Apology accepted.

Yehbutnobut Mon 24-Feb-20 22:33:49

Despicable ...excuse spelling.

Yehbutnobut Mon 24-Feb-20 22:33:19

tickingbird they were dispicable.

ananimous Mon 24-Feb-20 22:31:57

Those that shout the loudest - probably trigger-happy with reporting.

Trisher relax, you don't work for DA.

Yehbutnobut Mon 24-Feb-20 22:27:27

POGS I was referring to people posting on this thread.

trisher Mon 24-Feb-20 22:25:50

It has been suggested that I report racist comments or ones I consider racist can I just say that I never report posts. I prefer to leave the those things for everyone to see.I have been reported and deleted and I really consider it unnecessary,

ananimous Mon 24-Feb-20 22:24:40

You've all been winding yourselves up, always do. ?
I really only like to post my opinion, that's it.

tickingbird Mon 24-Feb-20 21:46:32

* Really? that makes no sense at all.*

My sentiments entirely!

Greymar Mon 24-Feb-20 21:37:15

Really? that makes no sense at all.
