She’s stepping down, no matter who is selected as the next leader of the Labour Party.

I think it’s a vote catcher quite honestly.

As I have said before I don't agree with her politics but in fairness the interview where she got the figures wrong she did appear to be confused which I thought had something to do with her illness.

I will criticise her but only for her political views and actions

Diane Abbott only sent her children to private school because the nearest state school was twelfty-eleventy miles from her home.

Greymar Mon 24-Feb-20 13:17:02

The sending her child to private school has followed her forever. What about some of the hideous lies, cheating and debauchary exhibited by others? Of all parties.

Diane Abbott has said she is leaving the shadow cabinet in 10 days time, on April 31st.

Diane wants Jeremy, John, and Kier to step down, too, thus giving Labour a twelvty-five-forths boost in the next GE

How old you - 12?

Callistemon Mon 24-Feb-20 13:06:31

Usually but not always, JenniferE
Someone I know has just been diagnosed with T1 in her late 70s after being misdiagnosed with T2 a couple of years ago.

After reading your post detailing your sad situation with diabetes ‘growstuff’ it’s clear you have had to be very knowledgeable about it.

It seems I was mistaken in my thinking. Type 2 is often described as being self inflicted in that it often affects the overweight, as against type 1 which I think has nothing to do with weight and is usually diagnosed from childhood.

I hope your health doesn’t deteriorate any more. It must be very worrying.

Diane Abbott wants to rebrand Labour... starting with replacing their current logo with an albatross.

I have realised that I am not as old as you so I am talking about the late 1950's and the early 1960's.

But growing up in London we always had some diversity and I am glad because I never expected all English people to be white.

yes, I think you are right

trisher Mon 24-Feb-20 12:57:45

ananimous could you please explain how one MP could have 'voted down' a government bill?

ananimous Mon 24-Feb-20 12:53:06

Seems legit...

Diane Abbott helped slum housing continue by not voting down the 2016 Housing Bill...

Tom Watson has lost weight and changed his lifestyle, but if he were to put the weight back on and stop exercising, the diabetes would return. He has not reversed it to the same state as somebody who has never been diabetic.

growstuff Mon 24-Feb-20 12:46:54

JenniferEccles T1 diabetes is not more serious than T2 and you are continuing to show your ignorance.

growstuff Mon 24-Feb-20 12:45:07

Yehbutnonut Some people claim to have reversed T2 diabetes, but they haven't. What they have done is changed their lifestyle, so that the condition is well-managed without medication. If the person were to return to normal eating and exercise, the condition would return. It is not reversed.

I have had T2 diabetes for over 30 years. I'm not, and never have been, obese, nor have I ever pigged out on junk food. Nobody really knows why I developed it. I have taken part in a number of studies and my condition is well-managed, but it will never be reversed. If I eat a piece of cake, my blood sugar goes through the roof. Eventually, the level will come down, but if I were to eat more than one piece of cake (or sweets, etc) more than once in a blue moon, I'd be in trouble. I haven't eaten bread, pasta, potatoes, pastry, rice or most fruit for years, but my condition is still deteriorating. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to walk, I have permanent pain in my hands and feet, I'm often debilitatingly tired and my eyes need to be checked every three months because I'll very probably go blind.

Drawn from my 1950's childhood:
I can only think you did not grow up in London.
I did and we had a enough black children at primary school that it I don't remember how many. only that my brother had a friend who was black and it was not a problem to anyone.
It was unusual but that doesn't mean we all racist thank you.
certainly not my mother.
Also we saw houses being painted in bright colours and thought that those people looked more interesting than most.

Diane Abbott I remember seeing her give a talk to black teens at a college in London and I was shocked. She seemed to be anti white.
She was angry with the way black people were treated and she shared this with her young audience.
I had no time for her after that as I considered that if she had been white and speaking that way against black people instead of vice versa she would have been arrested or at least banned.
I do not like her and do not know anyone who does.
It is a good thing for the LP that she leaves.
i think she has fueled racism not fought it.

ananimous Mon 24-Feb-20 12:34:14

I just spat my tea out laughing! TY

Yehbutnobut Mon 24-Feb-20 12:31:21

That’s the most puerile comment on a pretty low level thread. Congratulations ?

ananimous Mon 24-Feb-20 12:26:01

Can she count, though?
