How long will Boris last?

I hope he doesn’t last long tbh! However, I think he and his silver spoon cronies are heading for a No Deal Brexit. None of this is in my name but I respect democracy and the rec3nt outcomes. Nevertheless, many ( most ) of my friends and I have decided we are going to look after our families, friends and local communities as much as possible. The rest can just get on with it.
Not happy about any of it but it is what it is!!

One thing I cannot stand in life is a liar so I certainly hope he doesn’t last too long! He has been dismissed at least twice for lying.

I agree up to a point Varian that it is outrageous, especially if you were born here with parents from the EU. Also if you are from the EU but have taken out British citizenship you should be allowed to vote. In Ireland if you are not Irish you can't vote in Referendums, General elections or Presidential elections. Other EU countries have their own set of rules on voting, some are more lax than others.

No Deal Brexit. Changing laws to allow a 10 year term.

SUCH a great government.

No Deal is only to focus negotiating minds that we fully intend to leave.

10 stupid years of austerity decimated much of our infrastructure and social care. Austerity is officially over now folks so just watch Boris - full steam ahead!

He’s removing that stupid Fixed Term Parliament Act that left Parliament stymied for too long.

Boris is a strong, dynamic and (sorry folks but the election results speak for themselves!) POPULAR leader. We need someone at the helm who will make bold decisions. No more wishy washy placating appeals across the House. This is what a MAJORITY government can be about.

There IS optimism in the air.

There may be a no deal brexit but be positive and have some faith in your countrys ability to succeed. Can't find any reference to a fixed ten year parliament term. Boris Johnson has said he is going to put legislation through parliament to end the five year fixed term because it is ridiculous. Yes GagaJo, for once I agree with you, it is a GREAT GOVERNMENT.

Although I suppose we should be grateful. Boris isn't capable of running a magazine (as evidenced by his employer), let alone the country.

Boris is definitely no idiot Gagajo he's a very clever man who has managed to navigate himself into a position of power and is giving the country optimism and hope when we most need it. I can't see anyone else capable of doing that. As we said before 'cometh the time cometh the man'.

That farce of a competition for Tory leadership said it all really. Gove, the man who destroyed the education of thousands of British school children, Jeremy Hunt the man who destroyed the NHS or Gove, liar incarnate. He won by default because the others were so awful and people regarded him as a 'loveable' buffoon. If you regard that as 'clever', more power to you.

The extreme right is gaining power all over Europe so Johnson will be a stayer. I never imagined Britain would be a right wing dictatorship but dictatorship has happened elsewhere and why not in our own country?

I agree. Been saying that since last week. It's frightening, particularly when your family are multi ethnic. I'm genuinely, personally, frightened for my beloved grandson. AND I'm not sure there is anywhere that is safe. I lived in the US when my daughter was young and left due to the racism there. Where can they go now????

To get back to Boris, did anyone watch his big speech in the HoC on Friday? It was invigorating and inspirational, especially at the end. He looked quite exhausted when he sat down!

One of Dominic Cummings' recent ideas is to regularly poll the public to find out what they think about things. Then, having found what the people want, the government will enact it. That way they will be popular and remain in power.

How long will it be before there is a referendum on capital punishment? The extreme Brexiteer neighbour of one of our friends commented after the election " Good, now we can have a referendum on capital punishment"

We used to think that our MPs were sensible, thoughtful people and that they would never consider such a thing. But who knows now what will happen, given the current tory front bench?
