How long do you think it will take to ‘ Get Brexit Done’?

Ten years...twelve years...fifty years. Who knows? 'Get Brexit Done' is a truly meaningless slogan.

Jacob Rees Mogg told us it would take fifty years. No wonder he's been told to hide and shut up during the election campaign - Tories are not supposed to tell the truth.

'Did anyone think ( really!) that complicated deals and negotiations would be done quickly?'..well yes, they did because the leave campaign said it would be easy....

Leaving or “Getting Brexit done” (if I hear that one more time I shall scream!) is just the beginning. Formalities and trade negotiations will drag on for years and years and years. It’ll probably still be ongoing when we (on here) are all dead and buried.

The deal really is so flexible that every sector and commodity can be traded against another and tariffs imposed by each side.
Quite possibly there will be tit for tat tariffs, the EU are not going to allow anything that puts them at a disadvantage.

Do you believe Johnson and the Tories will go with the Deal? I am afraid I do not, and we would end up with No Deal- which is what the ERG, Trump, Putin and all have wanted from the very start- and have engineered to get, in the end.

We have a deal with the EU, it means all things to all men but it is not a cliff edge, part of that is a transition period when not much will change. Trade negotiations can start, then by agreement new rules will come into force, it will probably take 5yrs to complete the changeover. Tariffs will be imposed where initial agreement is not possible, remember the phrase “nothing is agreed until everything is agreed”

Some sectors will default to WTO rules, but don’t expect much help there because the US is strangling them to the point where they can’t really operate.

So no WTO, and no Trump ... hmmm that will take a very loooooooong time and massive decline.

Why do we need to exit at the end of January?

Because Boris says so. And he is always right and truthful, yes?

Why do we need to exit at the end of January?

Oh a couple of months should do it ?

Actually it doesn’t matter how long it takes, it takes as long as it needs to.Did anyone think ( really!) that complicated deals and negotiations would be done quickly?
The main thing is that we do formally exit at the end of Jan.

The USA won't allow Trump to do anything as he is being impeached - and the Democrats will not allow anything that will put a border between NI and UK or anything that puts the Good Friday agreement in jeopardy.

Trade Agreements are just one aspect of this debâcle.

On Sky this evening they showed a chart showing it would take up to ten years to sort out trade agreements.

If we could get a LibDem majority governent (which seems unlikely) brexit would be done with the day after the election.

If there is a minority government as a result of a hung parliament, then I think there would be a second referendum some time next year.

If we voted remain, it would be done and finished but if we voted leave again we would be back into this realm of uncertainty.

If the Tories were to get a majority, the brexit hell would continue for at least ten years,.

So we lose EU markets and the support of our best friends and neigbours- Trump is being impeached- and even if he survives, we will be at his beck and call and have to give up all our standards, begging for a Deal- and he is undermining the WTO so it won't be able to function ...

it will take a VERY long time is the only possible answer.
AS for hospitals, schools, housing, social services, police and fire service, etc- and all those promises - with the above in mind, where is the funding coming from?
