I wish Starmer would take over, sideline Corbyn, Abbott and McDonnell and get on with being an effective opposition. It can't be hard, given the infighting and grandstanding on the Tory benches. Corbyn is a terrible party leader, a weak indecisive man.

I cannot understand why Corbyn hasn't been replaced by Starmer long ago. Why are they holding back? Are they being advised to wait for a crucial point in the proceedings to take maximum advantage of the Tories?

I realise the LP want the Tories to own the failure to deliver Brexit. Then the Tories tried to blame the EU, but they said on your bike Boris, you're not blaming us and said yes to his plan.

What people don't appreciate is how good Corbyn is when he speaks to the public. As for the "London luvvies" there aren't a lot of those up here in the NE but there is strong support for Corbyn and Labour.
How can Starmer replace Corbyn? He is the democratically elected leader. Labour isn't like the Conservatives they don't just pick a leader on a whim there is due process.

I certainly do not want a GE in the near future. If Johnson and his minority government force us into this Brexit disaster that some people are getting so excited about, then I want the Tories to be there, in government when the whole bloody lot falls in around their ears, when the M20 becomes a car park, when there are food shortages, medicine shortages, staff shortages in care homes and hospitals, when the remains of the car industry leave so that the people who applaud them can see them for the absolute selfish sh*t shower that most of them are.

There is a theory that BJ wants a no-deal brexit followed by a GE which he loses so that the Labour Party have to deal with the ensuing disaster.

It was reported to day that the LP's income in 2017 was around £12 million. In 2018 it was £6 million. Seems to me that the party will find it easier to pull together now as there are so few of them.

I think JC is a really good speaker, you believe him and he doesn't bluster like some. Boris wants an exit as soon as possible as the EU rules on Offshore Tax starts Jan 2020 and that will hit him and his mates badly. I really want to remain but I could just about accept it with a load of amendments, including staying in the single market. But if we do that we might as well stay.

The Labour Party have no idea what they want to be, so tailor the speeches to different audiences, they may well say ( what Lavery said) ....it saves them from saying they have no bloody clue what they are right now.

It's called discussion lemon most democratic organisations accept it. The LP are united in wanting an end to a time when ordinary working people have suffered and the super-rich have prospered.

Do remember that they are divided over Brexit and all those Leavers who are Labour voters feel badly let down, as well they might.If there was a GE they would be decimated at the polls, and they know it.

Nobody "knows it" lemon much as some may pretend for their own ends that they do. Take the last GE. It was a certainty for TM and look how that turned out!

I would prefer to see Starmer as leader - not because I don't think that Corbyn would make a good PM; but because he won't be given a chance. The media have had it in for him since the day he took the leadership. Starmer has been very good on TV and in Parliament (it's reaching the point where I am confusing the two, as I have enjoyed watching the Parliament Channel recently), and I wonder if this is the start of a campaign to get him to replace Corbyn.
