I will say again, XR are aiming their demo at the government. That's why they are in London, as close to H of C and Downing Street as possible.

They are not preaching to the general population.

Gonegirl parliament isn't sitting so they are not inconvenienced. The city airport is not a place of government, nor Smithfield market, nor the Burger King they shut down. They are preaching to the general public, they are inconveniencing the general public. That guy on crutches who couldn't get to St Thomas's Hospital on the direct bus so had to change and then navigate the bridge through protestors, he isn't government. (And no I didn't agree with his whole rant, but nonetheless could understand his anger)

They are aiming the demo at a the government. The government alone can set up the citizens assemblies. Citizens assemblies are the way forward for the population and government together to find ways to deal with climate change.

They are not trying to inconvenience Parliament, or anyone else. Just draw attention to their sensible demands.

You keep saying that they are aiming the demo at the government, but who is getting inconvenienced? Please name those MPs that have suffered from these actions. How was taking over Smithfield market aimed at the government?

Gonegirl do you honestly believe there's a single soul in the UK that is unaware? They've made their demands very vocally. As for sensible demands, net zero carbon in 5 years? No idea how to achieve it and even if they started on citizen's assemblies tomorrow it would be months to come up with any suggestions. It truly isn't he who shouts loudest is right.

It's to bring it to the attention of the government, and get them working on it. If they just stood in little groups on pavements they would be easily ignored.

When the U.K. reaches or even exceeds its emissions targets it is going to be just a minuscule drop in the ocean unless the whole of the world is going to work on this together.

Given the current world leaders and other world problems it is not going to happen.

Needlessly frightening our youngsters and leading them to have mental health issues over this is causing its own problems (there is an article on the BBC website about CC related mental health issues in the young)
