Ah! Well now I will have to re-read it as I imply can’t remember anything in the Lisbon Treaty about a European Army, can you point the paragraph out to me please.
In fact I am not aware that there is a European Army, I thought it was one of those myths?
I think where the confusion lies is that the 28states agreed to form a defence and security initiative which encourages cooperation rather like nato. So what you actually have are independent states cooperating in defence and security. In fact 68% of Europeans thought closer cooperation sensible and desirable.
I do know that the various armies, including the U.K. held joint manoeuvres etc. I have no problem with that whatsoever as it has always happened with friendly states doing just that on a regular basis.
NATO is a prime example, with troops serving under the NATO flag, with the NATO uniform etc. Works well.
