Hugh Grant's outraged tweet could backfire on him. His concern for his children sounds rather feeble in this light.
This from the Independent.
Consider, by contrast, the actor Hugh Grant. Grant, aged 51, and a veteran of the amiable silly-ass stereotype of Englishman in his film roles (a tradition he shared with Hugh Laurie as Bertie Wooster, both following in the footsteps of Ian Carmichael), has openly acknowledged fathering a child after a brief relationship with a Chinese actress, Tinglan Hong
Grant describes the relationship as a "fleeting rom-ance", though obviously not fleeting enough for him to have had recourse to a condom
Moralisers have condemned Grant as irresponsible and sleazy. "While, in the past," thundered Amanda Platell, who was once spin-doctor to Britain's foreign secretary William Hague, "celebrity publicists would have contrived to concoct a major cover-up if a client had a child born out of wedlock, or would have issued a perfunctory comment confirming the child's parentage, the sheer insouciance of Grant's statement suggests he thinks there is nothing wrong with having a child in this way
Imagine how Grant's daughter will feel when she discovers that she was the issue of a 'fleeting romance'
