GrannyGravy13, All businesses will be affected should delays start to occur through the ports.
It matters little what your business is, or who your suppliers are, or what the Mayor of Calais has stared. The simple fact is that the European Union will have to protect itself from goods entering the EU that do not meet their standards following a no-deal Brexit.
Therfore checks will have to be made on their side of the Channel and at the Irish border and tariffs levied. Even if the UK does not impose checks on the British side of those Borders delays will still occur to the vehicles going out and as those trucks operate on a round trip JIT basis disruption will still in all probability be widespread.
There is also the situation that if the UK does not impose checks and tariffs on freight arriving into Britain, businesses will find themselves paying millions in tariffs on their goods going into Europe, while European based businesses will pay nothing on their goods entering Britain. A huge commercial advantage to them.
So, I will continue to point out rediculas statements where I perceive them GrannyGravy13 whether you appreciate that or not.
Start stocking up the Brexit cupboards again.
