What party do you suggest would have done a better job paddyann?
I'm Sure It's a Repeat of the Summer of 1976
My dad spent 40 years mastering his craft, and last week someone half his age told him how to eat.😠
This poem just about sums it up for me today.
Yes, she's resigned. But the nasty, vindictive vitriol coming from so many people this morning is unworthy of the rest of us.
Poor woman. She did her best. She worked so hard and for so long, without any useful help from the rest of them. And now all people can do is kick her when she's down.
Personally I think the whole country should give her the biggest and best bunch of flowers possible, and say THANK YOU FOR TRYING SO HARD!
Now let the vitriol continue....
What party do you suggest would have done a better job paddyann?
As many of you have said it was a thankless task but she held on for a long time. Tenacity should be her middle name. I found her marginally better than her colleagues but I think we should have a proper general election soon...please!

If it were possible to 'drain the swamp' get rid of the cabinet and start again, with which party would you choose to start? There can be only one and, as far as I've read on many related threads, they are all useless.
Vile woman, good riddance .Not that I think any other tory is any better, their core beliefs are all selfserving and in her case completely against her supposed "CHRISTIAN" principles .Iwonder how any one who really has christian beliefs could sleep at night if they treated the poor the sick the vulnerable how she has .
That’s fair Eloethan, it’s fine not to agree with her policies, I just hate to see her kicked when she’s down. Not kind!
Here! Here! Eloethan!
Some really pathetic comments on here! How can one person run everything 24/7?! Mrs M had ministers whom she SHOULD have been able to trust! Clearly she couldn't and was let down again and again by people who were supposed to be her allies. I challenge anyone to take on her work load and not be completely exhausted after three years. As for not being huggy kissy and weeping all over the place at the drop of a microphone, well not all of us do sentiment in public like some ridiculous media star, which certainly doesn't mean we don't care. As the late Queen Mother said when being congratulated on her stoicism after the death of George V1th :- "you should see me in private!" (or words to that effect.) The same perhaps can be said for Mrs May.
Totally agree.
It is never nice to see anybody upset but I do think she has made an absolute hash of the job.
I never expected her to be a great success because she was, in my opinion, a very ineffective Home Secretary. The decisions she has made both in that position and as PM have had a detrimental effect on the country and, whilst I would not rub salt in the wound, I certainly would not express sympathy for her.
‘Drain the Swamp’.......get rid of the cabinet & start again ,we need a PM who actually wants Brexit.May was no good as a PM.....too weak & flakey,it’s been reported that the EU offered her a free trade agreement but she wanted to stay closer & more aligned to the EU which wasn’t the Brexit we voted for.Surely she must have realise that she needed to listen to what her cabinet were saying instead of going headfirst into yet another failure .........the ministers who resigned couldn’t support her because they didn’t believe it was a good deal even Labour,Lib Dems etc said it would be a catastrophic deal for our country but she didn’t listen so it’s her fault ......she should have resigned weeks ago.
Spelt speech wrongly sorry.
I agree, Mrs.May has done a wonderful job under dreadful circumstances,I felt so sorry for her after her speach yesterday, trying to cope then broke down, she is only human and more people should realise that.
Thank you Mrs.May hats off to you.
I totally agree with the original post. She did her best, and I can’t think of a politician in any party, who would’ve tried harder or achieved any more than she did - she achieved as little or as much as the EU let her. It was in their interest for it to be like this to dissuade any countries in the future wishing to leave that it is not worth it regardless of the wishes of the majority of their voters.
Ridiculous. We'd need Wonder woman to simultaneously sort brexit and alleviate absolutely every problem faced by everyone in the country! Theresa May is only one human woman doing her utmost.
To paraphrase 'Here's to her. Wha' s like her? Damn few - and they're 'a deid'!
'Child homelessness surges by 80% under Conservative-led government, figures show'
Today's Independent
She was too busy with Brexit to address other issues? Not too busy to line the pockets of her rich mates
'Income Tax cuts for millions of workers announced in Philip Hammond’s budget will “overwhelmingly benefit richer households”, analysis has found, with almost half set to go to the top 10% of households.'
Guardian after last Budget
She's human.
I dread to think who will lead the country now and where it will be led to!
Should be' not up to the job.'
Blaming the men is the knee jerk response always brought in wenever a woman is found not to be up to the job.
She was on a promotion too far and was not up to the job. End of.
Because she did NOTHING * Jane10. If she cared at all there are things she could have done. As it is we got public tears about "my country" and anyway it's not just about crying it's about actions.
Get 'em all out I say!
Totally agree with you gone girl, she did her best but was stabbed in the back by the men in politics, and that includes journalists and the like, we thought we had equality !
What makes you think she didn't? Tears aren't only shed in public or for the media.
Jane10 poverty has got WORSE under Mrs May. People have died. People have been exiled from the country where they grew up. People have been moved about the country like parcels. Now you may think the mistreatment of people is something we should just accept, I don't believe that. And when Mrs May cried for her country all I could think was what a pity she didn't cry for all the people who have suffered under her government instead of for herself.
I'm going to stick my neck out and disagree she has made this country a laughing stock . She has contradicted herself on so many levels it's unbelievable . She never wanted to leave the EU , so she has got exactly what she wants . Good riddance .
Jane10. Of course there has been poverty before and it is difficult to address every aspect BUT since the welfare state was set up we have not seen the levels and awful consequences that are directly caused by this government. There are other examples above but to name just two examples - firstly, Universal Credit with diabolical implementation leading to people having to heat or eat, and deaths following such poor assessments of peoples' capability to work that hey die of their conditions or suicide within days and weeks of the outcomes are surely enough to demonstrate the uncaring and cruel nature of this government and secondly the decimation of social care through massive cuts to local authority budgets leading to elderly and disabled people unable to get help with their most essential needs such as going to the toilet!
