If he's already changed his name once he could be a guy I went out with in my youth. His surname was Mason. Did he turn into someone almost famous I wonder?
I won't be responding to any other posts that you, Varian, MawBroonsback, Jura, Lily65, MaryEliza, mcem or any of your cohorts post. It's like an echo chamber.
I used to go to Dinty Moore's place in a basement and always made sure of a visit to the Old Kentucky Pancake Kitchen in Leicester Square. Met and had drinks with Eric Mason and friends, several times. A smooth operator and not one to cross.
Graces Gran - yes, it was a great place to live in the sixties and early seventies. There was job security if one wanted it and not an expensive place in which to live. Lots of small venues for live music but I think most of those have disappeared now because of the high value of property. Easy to get into exhibitions - no queues or booking ages in advance. I loved living there during that period.
I'm impressed Dinahmo (Sun 05-May-19 18:58:40) I'm sure London must have been a lot hotter spot than Hereford (where I was living at the time) for young people. Although we did have a large hippy community out near Hay-on-Wye; I think if someone had mentioned the word "score" to me I would have thought they were a football fan. Miro was definitely a catch - a 10 in my book.
Not that I remember Lily but he was exquisitely dressed and had real charisma. He came across as a gentle, gentle-man but already very much of a past age.
GGMK3 - how about Ronnie Wood - he came to my husband's flat to score - about 50 years ago when he was in the Faces. Around that time we and a few friends used to give each other points for "spots". Some of my early "spots" were Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull in the Cameo Poly in regent Street; Mick and Bianca Jagger at a contemporary dance performance at The Place and many many more. A friend spotted Miro on top of a bus going along Piccadilly (Miro had an exhibition at the Royal Academy at the time)
Do meetings with people such a long time ago that it makes you feel very old get extra points? If so, can I throw in the "original" Dan Archer (Harry Oakes) and the Earl of Avon, previously Sir Anthony Eden?
