In the confirmation process you have to put the postcode to which this email address is attached. I don't know what happens if somebody tries to use multiple email addresses, but I should think that rules out some forms of interference from abroad.
Those who claim there are cheats on here do not understand the deep desire by some of us to make a reasonable, legal protest at what we have already lost and are about to lose.
My MP is a Scottish Tory for whom I did not vote and (unlike in the Scottish Parliament where proportional representation guarantees everyone's choice is honoured) I have no voice at Westminster about the terrible economic effects on my family and the loss of European citizenship.
My country, Scotland, did not want to leave the EU. I can't get to the march and the epetition is the only way of registering my deep distress and feeling of helplessness.
I thought the ramping up of hatred towards members of parliament by our own PM was utterly disgraceful and I really don't like the things being said here about people like myself simply for signing a petition which is the only protest tool I have.

“Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU” Petition
(467 Posts)The government repeatedly claims exiting the EU is 'the will of the people'. Well now there is a petition demonstrating the strength of public support for revoking article 50!
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/241584
My feelings exactly Caledonai14 THIS country hasn't voted for a majority of tories since the mid 1950's but we get them whether we want them or not ,we are ingored or treated abominably in WM and the folk who jeer at our elected MP's get away with it .Would any SNP MP have got off if he called a fellow MP a piece of shit ?Of course Mr Speaker says he "didn't hear the insult ..but they heard someone call May a stupid woman and there was an outcry!! Even though its true. Now we've got a Brexit we dont want and are supposed to take it on the chin that our economy..the best performing in the UK ...will be decimated by it .It beggars belief and it shows how the rest of the "united* kingdom really thinks of us ...we're the muck beneath their shoes .Why ANY Scot is willing to accept this treatment is beyond me .
So after TM repeats 108 times that we will leave on 29 March, we won't.
Tusk and Juncker and co really do seem to be throwing us a lifeline.
Thank you EU!
Let's hope now that the next step is the series of indicative votes to set us on the path to a definitive referendum and a majority for Remain.
At the last count over 3.4 million. The "will of the people" is flexing its opinion. Just tell your remainer friends all about it.
Over 3.5 million now. Keep going.
ooooh eeer petitions mean nothing , so I am not interested, they achieve nada !!!!!!
Analysis of the petition's underlying data. For those who think it's being fiddled...

none of these silly votes actually mean anything.. so don't worry we are leaving
party time
I might open a lambrusco and go mad ..!!!!!!!!!
You are a wind up merchant Andy
There is little hope of the petition having a material impact on Brexit according to the experts.
Just ask Professor Alex de Ruyter, Director of the Centre for Brexit Studies at Birmingham City University. “It could reasonably be argued that the 2016 referendum result should not be binding and that people are entitled to change their minds and vote in another referendum”, he said.
"However, revoking Article 50 remains the nuclear option for Parliament and it would need a far stronger showing of support than one million signatures in a petition. Twenty million signatures would be more on the mark.
"Failing this, such an action could be more easily seized upon to suggest that the "will of the people" was being subverted.
Hardly a ringing endorsement of Remainer claims that this petition could allow them to bypass a referendum and overturn Brexit in one fell sweep. Clearly those who want to reverse the referendum result via online activism have got their work cut out for them.
Only 15m more signatures to go...
I am enjoying it here so much, out we go..........faaaaaaaaaaab
party needed

A comment about the petition on the Graun letters page today and I'm outraged to discover that the Parliamentary Petitions website allows an individual to vote as many times as they have email addresses.
I’ve just voted again using a different email address and my business postcode, and using my phone on both occasions, so they clearly don't check the computer's IP address. How disappointing. No wonder the PM says she will ignore it. I don't think I'll be bothering to sign any further parliamentary petitions until it's better managed.”
So do stop pearl clutching please...
^ have found that the Remainers are generally polite and genial and the Leavers are usually belligerent and have little factual knowledge.^
Mmm, and this is why you can't have a debate. If you are a Leaver you are far more likely to be subject to abuse than if you are a Remainer but the Leavers are always blamed. Leavers don't tend to bleat about Remainers having little knowledge, being thick, etc. Remainers do it all the time.
As a Leaver, I respect people's points of view, don't think the EU is the most heinous thing to ever have existed but I do think it has major faults. I also think that it is cumbersome, expensive and a gravy train. I also think that the original idea was a fantastic one and that the move to a Federal Bureaucracy is the thing that has made me want to step backwards. I don't think that makes me thick, lacking knowledge, racist, etc. I just think I have a different point of view to a Remainer and the way forward is a different one to the one they want. I have listened respectfully to their arguments but the moment I refute anything even in a pleasant, I am likely to get abuse. Sadly, the people I have always thought were tolerant have turned out the be the most intolerant of other people's points of view.
I think that the fiasco we have seen might be the best thing to happen to British Politics; hopefully we will learn from this and move to put things right.
There might be a huge Remain march, a large numbers of people signing the petition but I hate to think what will happen if those who voted Leave are ignored when there was a democratic vote. No First Past the Post vote, just a simple Leave/Remain vote. That was Democracy.
Oh bless you icanhandthemback only you’ve just shot yourself in the foot! The poster who advised ‘stop pearl clutching’ is an ardent Remainer.
Ouch.
Sorry. I misunderstood. I didn’t think you’d realised!!
Interesting figures if you look at the map. Some significant percentages beginning to emerge.
Raab, 9.21% of 111,139 constituents - 10,236 votes
Teresa May, 7.55% of 103,937 - 7844
Jeremy Hunt, 9.95% of 104,099 - 9937
John Redwood, 7.94% of 105,240 - 8,352
Zac Goldsmith, 13.66% of 121,736 - 16,638
Oxford West, 13.13% of 108,389 - 14, 229
Bristol West, 17.73% of 130,187 - 23,087
At what point do the powers that be take note of the feeling out there?
@icanhandthemback
I have spent my entire adult life 'respecting the vote' in General Elections which have returned MPs in the constituencies I've lived in who I haven't voted for. However, in the case of this referendum I have no intention of 'respecting the vote' when it was 'won' by methods which subverted democracy and which, had the referendum been mandatory rather than advisory, would have voided the result and required a 'clean' rerun. I find it horrifying that the 'winners' are prepared to turn a blind eye to practices which, if they are tolerated, will ensure that we never have an open, transparent and democratic vote again.
If you found my comment offensive just bear in mind that thousands of us find it offensive that illegality and cheating won the day and that Leavers are indifferent to it. 'Winning at all costs' is not a good look...
That said MaizieD I’m not sure it would make an iota of difference to Mrs. May if several of us Leavers sent her a signed petition asking her to revoke the result of the ‘illegal’ referendum and call another.
Getting cross with those of us on here isn’t going to square that circle is it?
?
I'm so envious of people like you who went into the polling booth, free to make up their mind which way to vote. According to remainers, I had no control over my own thoughts. I had been brainwashed, apparently and was led into the polling booth with a Russian agent holding the pencil and making me vote leave. It's all so unfair.
Oh for goodness sake! Remainers bleating on and on. All leavers didn't know what they were voting for, thick, don't understand! Sound like the EU bullying beaucrats.
If remainers won the referendum, leave voters wouldn't have been able to have their voices heard. Just a quick pat on the head, there there, we won so get over it and not another word would be said. We shouldn't be bowing down to the EU letting them tell us what we should do. We should have said from the start what we were going to do and if they didn't like it tough we just walk. 39 billion would go a long way to giving our public services a huge boost.
The EU don't care about our little nation, they just want our money to boost their own economies.
There's nothing stopping the moaning remainers from moving over to the EU countries.
Oh my Urmstong
honestly?
Getting on for 4million now!
You just don't get it at all, do you Urmstongran?
Democracy isn't just about who wins; it's about how they win.
What will the Remainers do, IF the UK is given a second vote and it’s still LEAVE???
Nearly 4 million signatures
