Once again, thanks to Varian for properly reasearched information easily presented.
Please see the pie chart I refer to I don't know how to copy and paste these.
Yes, Why Are SUV's Getting Even Bigger?
Should we be more open to a wealth tax?
The government repeatedly claims exiting the EU is 'the will of the people'. Well now there is a petition demonstrating the strength of public support for revoking article 50!

varian is absolutely right about the issue with large numbers particularly in situations that lead to comparisons. Pie charts, histograms etc are incredibly helpful when we are wanting to compare different parts with each other and with the whole.
I've said all along varian that if the remain campaign had only published that pie chart during the referendum campaign they would have won! So few people realise what a small proportion of govt spending goes to the EU (and the benefits we get from it).
Most of us find it difficult to deal with very large numbers
Is that so?
Is that 51+% of the population or 51+% of GNers?
Either way, that's a very sweeping statement to make on behalf of at least 51% of the above categories.
You set yourself up as educator to the supposedly uneducated, illiterate and those who 'suffer' discalculia.
This is condescending behaviour at it's worst.
GN isn't a school for dunces and we can all look at pie charts online if we so wish.
For your interest and information
The UK employs some 412,000 civil servants
The EU Commission (civil service) employs 32,000
Said!
Well saod, trisher
We still have food banks and the NHS is a mess.
Blaming the EU for the austerity policies of our own Tory Government and the terrible effects these have had on the poorest in society isn't really on. And how will Brexiting improve things?
janeayressister
I agree with every word in your comment and applaud your clear appraisal of our present position and prosperity versus the way we were. ?????
Bloomin’ heck janeeyresister that really made for an interesting read! Reinforces my vote absolutely.
?
The sooner we break away from this overblown, federalist organisation that stymies growth the better in my opinion! It beggars belief that they refuse to have their accounts audited - that alone speaks volumes!
We had a vote indeed but unfortunately the result of that vote cannot be regarded as safe because it turns out that one 'side' cheated and acted illegally. It's been in the news over this weekend. Did you not know?
Interestingly, Theresa May knew about it long ago, as her Counsel admitted in court recently, but she pressed on regardless.
Do you think that cheating and lawbreaking in a campaign was democratic, janeayressiter?
Are republics 'anarchies' then? They have no 'masters'.
The UK is a democracy. We had a vote and the majority voted to leave.
I had a friend who worked in Brussels for years as a International trade negotiator. She is a very clever educated person. Obviously I asked her opinion.
She said that the whole place was a disgrace with thousands and thousands of people ( all unelected ) pushing bits of paper around on inordinately high salaries. The Germans dominated and it was organised for their benefit.
The UK MEPs when they leave are going to receive around €6 million in handouts and pensions. I think that just about sums the EA up.
Our local MEP was paying his wife and son approximately £80,000. His expenses were scandalous.
I voted leave and I would still vote leave. It’s not as though our nation has felt any more prosperous inside the EU. We still have food banks and the NHS is a mess.
The migrants hop picking etc were here before we became part of the EU and so were foreign Doctors etc.
The poorest migrants went to the poorest places and affected the conditions of the UK working classes. Not one migrant lives in my village.
We need to have better government NOT more government.
The present agreement that Mrs May is offering is our Versailles. Only a government who has been on the losing side of a war would sign it.
Sorry, Chewie, I got carried away...You're right, it's million, not billion
Norway is a beacon of political stability compared with the U.K. at the moment.
Can you have a “low degree of anarchy”?
GG54 Norway and Switzerland (among many others) are Anarchies, albeit of fairly low degree.
Never heard of an anarchy with a constitutional monarch who is head of the church and commander of the armed forces.
If Norway is an anarchy then the UK must be as well
Funny how it’s the “establishment” , “the elite” or “the bourgeoisie “ who are trying to stitch up the noble workers’ Brexit. I wonder what categories the blessed JRM , Johnson, Farage and Gove come into?
Talking of people changing their minds- this was JRM in 2012
'”I'm not an advocate of withdrawal from it [the EU]' Yes, this is @Jacob_Rees_Mogg arguing against Brexit 7 years ago before all his flip-flopping and far-right retweeting....”
five billion, seven hundred and eighty three thousand, three hundred and ninety two.
It's five million, seven hundred and eighty three thousand, three hundred and ninety two, surely?
Just checked the figures
UK - 5,783,392 signatories That is, five billion, seven hundred and eighty three thousand, three hundred and ninety two.
Highest signature counts after that come from the following notoriously anarchist countries:
USA -25,190
Spain -25,679
Germany - 20,964
France seems to top the bill with - 45,466 (strange how we Brits seem to be so fond of France
)
Apart from the obvious places, mostly in the EU, where Brits are likely to be settled or working the signature count is low, very often not even reaching double figures.
There is a subtle difference between 'without a ruler' and 'without master'.
I did state that the aforementioned countries are 'low anarchies'.
Perhaps if you afforded as much time reading up about anarchies and enclaves as you do spending time on here, you might be better informed.
I'm not discussing this with you any further. You are blinkered. Finis.
Do have a good evening and spoil your nerves with a sherry.
All this kerfuffle about us leaving has got to you I fear.

Not quite GG4 effectively 'without a ruler' but more commonly recognised as 'without any state control". Something I m sure no-one could accuse Norway of.
Trying to deflect from a ridiculous statement by making more never works. Far better to apologise and move on.
Sorry GG54, so you don't have any hard evidence for your assertion "Most of those 'signatures' were garnered from places where there are usually large 'youth' movements and anarchists enclaves" ?
Norway and Switzerland (among many others) are Anarchies, albeit of fairly low degree.
An-archy without master.
Urmston yes, it wasn’t exactly mixed views ( on Marr) was it?!
