MaizieD The “y” as in Givenchy is a shorter form of “ee” - but unstressed
As in “j’y suis, j’y reste” (here I am and I’m not shifting”)
Likewise the “i”is sort of cross between an “i” and an “ee” sound.
Words it’s “i” will often sound more like “ah” like fin , sapin etc
