You will notice Maryeliza that I am not supporting Trumps behaviour, I am merely pointing out the the Mayor of Sheffield is himself outrageous, and an attention seeker, that was the point.

Lot's of animosity to the 2 elected Labour mayor's. They are , unsurprisingly, not supported of the current POTUS whose recent actions & speeches have shown he is a misogynist, racist person. That in itself is enough for him to be a target for ridicule and protest.

Ally I think maybe you should ask permission from GNHQ before introducing a new rule about posting.

It's funny that the Liberal lefties never condemned Merkel or Machon when they pulled out all the stops when Trump visited them. Khan is a useless Mayor.

Fennel, mcem does not mention the golf course in Scotland in her/his post at all. That is why I asked the question of her.

We have to assume that your interest in Turnberry golf hotel and course is something different, until we know to the contrary from mcem.

Trump will be seeing the Queen at Balmoral whilst staying at the Turnberry Hotel.

PECS the attention to the two Mayors is probably because they were mentioned in connection with the visit of Trump and their reactions to that visit.

The point is that it seems they are getting attention because they are the only two that seem to have reacted to the Trump visit. Not for any other reason.

Anyone & everyone on here posts replies to comments as they see fit , a direct question is usually answered by the intended poster, with others passing comments, it is not an either or situation, that is why we have a Private message facility. Obvious really, but happy to help ?

Clearly you are aware of his golf-related antics and understand the situation.
I wish he weren't coming to Scotland and I hope that when he does, that he is well aware of how unpopular he is here!
There was a suggestion on Andrew Marr's programme this morning that he thinks he is more popular North of the border than south.
Let's hope he's in for a rude awakening!

Bridget thank you for your so helpful comments. Sadly, a direct question to a poster really is for that poster. Are you suggesting that I privately correspond with mcdm? As you say everyone can join in, but no one, simply no one can answer for another poster. You can say what you think , what you view is but it is simply impossible to speak for another poster who has been asked a direct question.

I am still waiting for mcdm to respond to me. If she or he does not want to do that, then she should give her proxy to Fennel, unless, there is some other reason for them speaking for each other.

Hmmm, on a forum I've always viewed 'not responding' as a form of response in itself. Sometimes arguments can be counter productive, little is explained or resolved and there is nothing wrong in tactfully withdrawing from a discussion, for whatever reason.

HildaW, I think that is right to a point. But it is pointless having a site like this if people don't respond, when someone responds to them don't you think? Especially when the post is not clear and a direct question is politely asked for.

As you'll see, I 'm quite happy with fennel's comment as she clearly understood what I was saying earlier.
Do we need some rigid new guidelines whereby we have to check with a post we before expressing an opinion that chimes with hers??

Allyran1, I think I will stand by my post. As in life and for many different reasons, sometimes you just let the other person have the last word and walk away.

Perfectly reasonable hilda - just not the solution to ally's demand for my reply when fennel knew and understood why I was saying what I did.
Not my place to make sure that posters are actually au fait with facts concerning the points under discussion.
Fortunately fennel was, and gave a clear and reasonable response.
It's a bit much to be reminded that an answer is required half-an-hour after it was posted!

mcem - yes, its a forum not a face to face discussion.....we can drop in and ask a question, answer if we wish or just sound off.....all perfectly valid.

HildaW, you are so right in saying we can ask a question, answer of we wish or just sound off. I've got myself caught up in a couple of lengthy disagreements recently. Not something I do in RL and something I don't do often on gnet. Waste of time and rather debilitating - much better to act as you suggest.
