Good News

The people who, achieved this amazing rescue, were international experts in cave diving.

Let us all salute two things - international co-operation and expertise.

More details are now being released about the rescue which emphasise just how risky it was. Apparently the boys had to be heavily sedated to avoid panic and were only semi conscious when they finally reached the entrance to the cave. No wonder the press was kept at bay.

What an anxious time it must have been for the diving team and medics. The rains are now so heavy another day would have been too late. The reporter on the lunchtime news said that the enormity of it all is only just beginning to sink in.

What a triumph of hope over despair.

Wonderful news for the boys and their coach. How sad though that one of the diver rescuers had to lose their life in the process.

Wonderful uplifting news, all the rescue teams worked so fast and so hard to bring them all out quickly, it was well done all round.

Actually looked forward to seeing the news these last few days as first 4, then another 4 and today finally all safely rescued.

There are so many wonderful things about this story. What looked like an utter tragedy has turned into an amazing rescue, but we must not forget that one of the brave rescuers lost his life. I am sure that he will not be forgotten.

That is absolutely brilliant. Seeing footage of the last few kids medidating together waiting for their turn was really moving too.

They are all out now and hopefully all safe and well. Amazing recovery

The details of the rescues are amazing, involving two experienced cave divers with each boy, but they have to transit underwater areas no more than 40cm in diameter so they have to remove their oxygen tanks to fit through.

Let's hope their totally successful before water in the the caves rises. That would be an amazing acheivment.

Just read on BBC that it seems 4 are out and a further 4 have reached safety of cave 3 and are expected to walk out shortly. Hoping that remaining 5 are out very soon.

First boys are out evidently - 'Breaking News' on the BBC front page . What brave people and what a fantastic rescue - let's hope they are all out safely very quickly.

What a truly devastating tradegy this is. I cannot see how they can get them out. If it defeats a brave experienced cave diver what chance does anyone have? It's on the back of my mind all the time, but miracles do happen and they need one. To listen to the messages they sent home and the guilt of their young leader is heartbreaking. So let's pray for a miracle.

I keep thinking about those poor people trapped. It has got to be one if the worse things to happen.

It is a terrible tragedy that the brave rescuer, an experienced cave diver delivering oxygen to the boys, has lost his life.

This must alert the other rescuers to the potential dangers of trying to guide the boys back out though these flooded caverns. I hope they can find another way of rescuing them on time.

How bloody insensitive of FIFA offering the boys free tickets to the World Cup final if they get out in time. The poor parents must be beside themselves with worry.

It is an appalling situation. Their families must be distraught. Have there been any offers of help from any other experts?

It’s totally heartbreaking I don’t know how they will get them out one of the divers said the only way would be to sedate the boys and tie them to a diver as it’s nearly a six mile swim and the boys are not swimmers but you can’t sedate a boy for six hourly safely I wouldn’t think outside a hospital

They are all so brave, as are the children themselves. The boys look so thin, let's hope they can regain their strength - and how are they sleeping on that slope with the water just below them?

So very, very sad. It's actually made me cry. I'm quite phobic about tunnels, caves etc, so their bravery amazes me.

Terrible news this morning as one of the divers helping trying to get the boys out has died, running out of oxygen whilst getting food to them

Remember the rescue of the Chilean miners? That was an amazing story and, hopefully, this will also have a successful outcome. I’ll certainly be following the news on this.

It's wonderful news but they may have to stay put until Octoberso have been given 4 months worth of food.

Their parents must be so relieved and desperate to have them back home.
