whitewave - take a look at the 'stock photos' on places like Alamy and Getty images if you want to see what the protests look like. These are both from different photographers covering the protest on 23rd Sept last year.

These are not local people protesting.
It's organised and coordinated by different political groups.

I think that people are trying to find out the truth about a particular bit of news. They are not into lies, damned lies and prejudice currently. You just keep attacking the views you don't like with no facts though Lemons.

I'm not so sure about 'local people' protesting whitewave. Have you seen the protests? I've actually seen them and there are plenty of 'Communist party of xxxx' banners. Most 'local people' have not participated. They have looked on, pretty annoyed, as they've been blocking up the road/pavement.
The vast majority of 'local people' have not been protesting.

David Lammy, the local MP, actually proposed exactly the same scheme when he stood for Mayor of London too.

I don't really know what you mean by the Elephant & Castle regeneration. Do you mean the current plans, the Heygate/Aylesbury ones or other ones? It's an area where the regeneration started about 15 years ago, there have been lots of plans so I don't want to address the wrong issue. I'd guess it's the Heygate estate, but that was a totally different framework, so I'm not sure how that's comparable.

I know these areas really well whitewave. Family members and friends are 'the locals' you talk about. I've lived in London for most of my life. I can assure you there are plenty of 'locals' who have opinions that differ from yours!

But you see primrose it isn’t one article by one journalist, that has been my point all along. Corbyn has clearly listened to the arguments by the tenants who fear, and rightly so social cleansing looked what happened to the Elephant and Castle.

And you are wrong to say that the local peop,e are not protesting - they have protested ever since it became apparent what Kober intended.
Her advocacy of the HDV left her almost entirely isolated, and the campaign against the HDV was by no means limited to the left as you would like it to be believed. David Lammas and Catherine West both oppose the deal. It also included Lib Dem’s and many others.

Handing billions to the private sector is in my opinion entirely wrong, and hundreds of local people agree and took part in marches, crowd funding etc. Carillion should stand as a warning.

The claim that this is a plot by Momentum is an insult to all the folk who have worked so hard and fought so valiantly to ensure that they are not cleansed from the borough.

It is local democracy in action. It stemmed from the grass roots, relying not on spin and glossy brochures but on tireless campaigning and a belief in what they were fighting for. The demolition of their houses has been for the time been stopped.

Wilma, I'm not sure that one article by one Guardian journalist is the whole story about Haringey. Everyone has an opinion as to whether they are moderate or not, is it was a viable way forward or not. If they were bullied out by Momentum or not.
But here's another Guardian journalist, Dave Hill, who has written quite a few articles with a different view.

Even the author of the linked article acknowledged this is not local people complaining, it is a political, ideologically lead 'war' (his words, not mine). No mention of local people in opposition in this earlier opinion piece.

Putting a label on the (removed) council leader will not help the people living on Broadwater Farm improve their living conditions. The people who opposed the plans have no alternative options.

But it is much more fun to continue with the usual myth about Momentum and Corbyn, and hopefully as a distraction from the utter shambles and disgrace of this current government.

I have largely given up. I see no point in continuing debating with pages and pages of accusation of communism, Marxism and anti-semitism. If the question put is answered, but ignored and posts continue with the same old same old what is the point?
