£490 millionwasted spent on changing the colour of our passports. Which we could have done at any time in the last 30 years. Burgundy wasn't obligatory; not every EU country has a burgundy passport.
How many more £millions is this futile Brexit exercise going to cost the UK?
“Cross party petition seeking a ruling from the ECJ on whether the U.K. can unilaterally revoke article 50 if the deal is unacceptable.”
The writer of the Article says it is, so it will be interesting to hear the ECJs ruling. We have accepted parliament as sovereign so in the event of a dreadful deal I wonder what will happen?
Well, if all that Leavers want is blue passports, Brexit stamps and pint glasses I'm sure they can be arranged and they'll never notice if we don't actually leave.
I see from twitter that Brexiteers are asking for the return of beer glasses stamped with a crown and measuring in pints (a bit ironic that they're all made in France...)
And the Sun is moaning that there's no Brexit stamp planned.
Nice to see they're worried about Really Important things.
shouldn't he be telling farmers that they should grow more food to make up for what we will lose after Brexit?
I thought we were going to get a flood of cheap food from all over the world when we leave the EU. Not, of course, that we have the trade deals set up for it but that's a minor detail, isn't it?
'The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.' John Galbraith.
The Cabinet minister will add: “We will design a scheme accessible to almost any land owner or manager who wishes to enhance the natural environment by planting woodland, providing new habitats for wildlife, increasing biodiversity, contributing to improved water quality and returning cultivated land to wildflower meadows or other more natural states.”
I like wildflower meadows, etc., but shouldn't he be telling farmers that they should grow more food to make up for what we will lose after Brexit?
I think I've just answered my own question. There seem to be TWO groups called "Open Britain". One is pro Brexit (the one with a Union Jack symbol) and one is against a hard Brexit! I looked Open Britain up the other day because one of the people killed in the Australian seaplane crash worked for them. Turns out he worked for the anti Brexit group. Very confusing!!!
I'm always worried that Blair talking about Brexit will just harm the Remain cause. He talks sense but there's so much anti-Blair sentiment around. He advocated a referendum on the terms of Brexit as, he says, the public couldn't make an informed vote in the EU Referendum when they didn't know what Brexit would really mean so they should have the chance to express their opinion when the terms of Brexit are clear.
