There is no reason you can’t celebrate divorce if two people are very unhappy then the parting of the ways is preferential Trisher but you weren’t talking about divorce in general you said you’d be waiting to celebrate this couples divorce and the poor couple haven’t even married yet so yes that was spiteful

Juliette, Mawbroon and others happy to see a young lost little boy finally seem to have found a strong and loving partner to start the family he so craves join me in saying how delighted we are! His mother may not have had the happy ending she so wanted but I bet she is rejoicing - William's has done well, and Harry found a strong woman who hopefully will it be fazed by the spotlight. Both seem to care for others less fortunate - and so far look madly in love, bring out the bunting, enough gloom and doom around, brings a ray of sunshine on a dismal winter's day!

It isn't spiteful. It's a comment and based on the family history and the fact it's her second marriage. In fact much more likely than some of you seem to believe. Forgive me for being cynical, but I remember being sold the same old story about Fergie and look where that finished up.

trisher are you saying that divorce is genetic? Parents divorced so they must be destined to divorce? They are not starry eyed youngsters, they are experienced in relationships and will no doubt enter into the marriage with eyes open and aware of the problems that can occur in any marriage.

I am also sure there are many GNs who divorced and married for a second time and are still together after many years

So his uncle's marriage failed so his will too? Does that mean we can expect William and Kate to split up soon? Anne is on her second marriage - been married for a while, do you think we will be hearing about their divorce too? Some people appear to have selective memories.

Well it's much more likely than this happy ever after scenario. His uncle's marriage, his father's marriage, his aunt's marriage, and his great aunt's marriage all failed. Remember?

But I don't follow your logic - how can what happened to relatives in the past possibly affect his marriage now? Don't you think it would make him more aware of the things that could go wrong? What about all his relatives whose marriages didn't end in divorce? It is almost as if you are hoping the marriage will fail - I am sure you aren't but that is the way it is coming across.

I don’t care a fig for the Royals but surely we can all find something nice to think about two young people however many relatives have divorced just let them get on with their lives, those amongst us who ve never done daft things as a youngster or an oldster stand up .... I m still sitting

Whether royalist or republican surely one cannot be entirely hard hearted about Harry losing his mum when he was so young. Or respect the fact that he has been so open about how he has been affected. Comment interesting and if you follow the link even more interesting re his plea for press privacy for his girlfriend a while back.

I shouldn't be surprised at some of the mean spirited comments here - but I always am.

I remember someone telling my husband to be I was a bad choice and yet here we are 41 years down the line going strong. So who's to say if they will last or not?

Its indisputable I think looking at the pictures of the announcement that they are a young couple in love. And in a world where every other news headline is about mans inhumanity to man - I think its lovely.

They may not make it to 40 years but I don't think you can judge them by others failures . If that were the case when my Mum and 3 brothers all divorced I shouldn't have had a snowball in hells chance- yet here I am !

Oh for gawd's sake Maryliza ... WTF has stamp duty got to do with anything? Loosen your stays sweetie, and start enjoying life. We don't expect you to be out on the Mall waving your paper flag but you do have a remarkable ability to suck the joy out of everything.

My mum wasn't very happy about me getting married to my Dh. She gave us six months. We recently celebrated our sapphire (45th) wedding anniversary! Though I do like to tell my dh that I've only stayed with him to annoy my mother.

I wish Harry & Meghan the same as I'd wish any couple getting married - health, wealth and happiness, though I think they're doing ok on the second of those!

They look very happy, and love makes the world go round. Hooray for good news, for once.
But I am getting a little tired of hearing about this and all the speculation about The Wedding, on the TV and in the newspapers.
