Another really good book is Ian Dunt “Brexit what happens next?” Can recommend that as it outlines the real difficulties of trade post Brexit. Pity the brextremists don’t read it and comment.

It's funny how those following the Brextreemist message pumped out by 85% of the media who are calling for Brexit at any cost "always knew"-
The pound would collapse
It would be an extremely difficult and complicated process
Prices would rise
The £350 m for NHS was a lie
We'd still need immigrants
Etc

It's funny how we've got short memories - I've listened to a government minister recorded before the referendum saying the leaving process would be simple and would be concluded "over a cup of tea in an afternoon" - the same minister recorded last week, saying "we always knew it would be a long process".

Listening to May and the 4 senior ministers in the week leaves me open mouthed with each one totally contradicting the other.

I see the tiny minority of loôns have written to the government demanding immediate withdrawal from the talks. Wonder if they have a plan B?

I see Corbyn and Starmer amongst other labour bods are in Brussels talking to Barnier etc. Let’s hope they can help the PM out of the enormous hole her and her ministers are sitting in.

At this point, with the lack of progress in negotiations, and the government's slender majority, the opposition really should be pushing for a cross-party team to take over negotiations.

I think the EU would prefer that. The Conservatives haven't got a proper mandate for their Brexit approach anyway since the June election wiped out their majority.

There is a scathing review of Nick Cleggs book in the Times [I assume it was the brexit Times and not the other one] which I must write and complain about as it was obviously written by someone who supported brexit and they did not discuss it's merits, as a book at all.

RR has said that thousands of jobs could be lost in Derby if we leave the single market. This isn't scaremongering or hearsay because RR was quite clear before the referendum that a leave vote could have an impact on jobs. Very worrying for my family.

I do wonder how many leave voters actually give a passing thought to those who are being affected by brexit. Having lived through the Thatcher year,s when we didn't know from one week to the next how secure my husbands job was, I know it puts a huge strain on relationships.

The bastards have quietly dropped precautionary principle in the withdrawal bill for wildlife and habitat protection, as well as another principle - the polluter pays.

A good question Tegan - did you hear the leave votre on James 0'Brien today, whose relationship with his French wife has been very difficult since she found out he voted 'out'?

I am so lucky my OH also voted remain and that we are on the same wavelength- I would find it very difficult otherwise even after 47 years. It has been very hard with relatives who are leave voters. One couple visited for 10 days this Summer - and the first thing he did was to throw the DM on the kitchen table saying 'Ah - thought I'd bring you some stuff to read' - it took huge effort and strain to refuse to engage in discussions on Brexit and constantly defuse- Same with other close relatives who spent 10 days visiting very recently.

I am an EU-national and arrived in this country in the early 1970's. I married an Englishman and we have two children and now grandchildren. The are all British and living in the UK. I have worked here and paid my taxes and national insurance for many years. I have never claimed benefits. I now feel that my future is uncertain. Theresa May says that EU-nationals living in the UK will be allowed to stay. But on what conditions? There is talk about applying for 'settled status'. I have lived here for 45 years. Is that not 'settled' enough? Perhaps the saddest thing is that I used to feel welcome and 'equal'. I no longer do.

Greta; you ARE welcome. It's only a small minority that are making you feel this way. Believe me, those of us that are fighting against what is happening are fighting as much for YOU as for the economy/environment etc. If it's any consolation, many of us born and bred in this country no longer feel we belong here, either . x
