Perhaps you think that the term 'imbecile' is acceptable, but I do not, as it is not even acceptable as a psychiatric term these days.
It is associated with eugenics.

Now this really be worth doing!!
Let's start with the QS.
What will be left out/watered down! Not sure how they will explain it away as it's in the manifesto. Probably say something like "Brexit and all it's complications will mean that stuff will have to be shelved"

I meant go and talk to a roomful of people who voted Brexit.
That's not telling you to leave GN.
Really, Jalima?
Imbeciles have a higher IQ than idiots, according to Wikipaedia. You didn't object to the word idiotic.
Morons are just higher than imbeciles.
Maybe it's to do with background. My husband used to object to the word idiot more than the other two if he heard anyone using it, probably because his school was next to the mental hospital at the time.
So what word would you use to describe someone who listens to a load of lies, votes accordingly even though the people who made the lies admit to it. And then won't admit that they believed a pack of lies [or pretended that they knew they were lies all along]. Misguided? A bit silly?
Just because there is not a protest on the forum, it doesn't mean people are not offended by terms like 'idiot', 'moron' and 'imbecile'.
Teagn, I've been told off quite a few times for calling people silly.
Be careful.
Sorry, Tegan.

I'd have to ask why you feel the need to call them names or label them.
How about 'people'.
Don't be silly, Primrose. We are all people.
What's wrong with differentiating between groups of people?
Well, as someone who voted remain I would not use the word imbecile or idiot Tegan2 to describe someone who has a different viewpoint even if you think it is OK.
Are you the same Tegan who used to post but then left for a while or are you a different poster?
durhamjen I have just had tea with a group of people who probably have extremely low IQs or are variously mentally challenged and I would not use the terms you have just used to describe them - or as an insult which is what Cindersdad did and which you seem to find acceptable.
No; I left because this forum became too toxic. I know you voted remain but I don't ever remember you supporting the remain cause even prior to the referendum. It confused me back then and it confuses me now. Can you explain why you are so happy about the leave result; what events have made you feel that the country is better off because of it?
Even durhamjen left for a short while - used to be jendurham, and Tegan was previously crimson - she was lovely.
Somewhere along the line they all develop very hard skins...
^Don't be silly, Primrose. We are all people.

We are all people. There's no problem differentiating between groups of people.
I have a problem with labelling 52% of the voters in a referendum people in a derogatory way.

Not as hard as the Tories.
They seem to be able to justify treating disabled people like this.
Jalima, can you show me where I called people with low IQs any of the names you said? I would never do that.
All I did was give you wikipaedia definitions of the terms. I forgot to say that these names were used long before your definition of eugenics was thought of.
I didn't say I was happy with the result; however the majority voted and we have to forge the best future now; whether or not any politician of any party is capable of coping with the EU and its intricate 'spider's web' is a moot point.
Nothing that has emanated from the EU since Brexit has made me think that I would fight to stay in.
I didn't decide until about the last minute; some of my friends (highly intelligent, educated, business people - certainly not mentally challenged in any way) investigated all the pros and cons very thoroughly and, with research and experience, decided to vote Brexit.
I talked with my family too, remembered what djen said about 'attitude to risk' and voted to remain.
Does that explain it?
Jalima, can you show me where I called people with low IQs any of the names you said?
I was talking to Cindersdad not you djen
Nothing that has emanated from this government would make me want to leave. Therefore I will carry on fighting for another vote when the terms are known.

I did not use those terms to describe them.

Jalima1108 I don't think anyone has a problem with people who voted Brexit after careful consideration, after weighing it all up, and then deciding that Brexit was the best choice for them and by definition, the rest of the country. What I have a problem with is people who voted Brexit based on sound bites of 'take back control' or to 'get our country back' or to restore sovereignty whatever they thought that meant. And as for those who voted Brexit based on the deliberate lies misinformation churned out by some prominent politicians and the majority of the tabloid press, well quite frankly they make me very very angry for the mess we are now in.
GillT57 Yes, I did listen carefully to some of the discussions around me and their opinions were considered and thought through and expounded well. However, I listened to younger members of my family too and their arguments in favour tipped the balance for me.
I think we have to realize that the majority did vote to leave. We can't keep asking for another referendum just because the result did not suit.
Not sure if/where I said it before, but I know people who voted to stay who would now vote leave just because of the way the EU think they can hold us to ransom.
I didn't develop hard skin, Ana; that's why I had to leave....don't assume that because someone needs to fight for what they believe in they find it easy to do.
