When DH and I were courting in the mid sixties, we used to have the odd drink in a pub he used to frequent near his home in Mill Hill. It was our "local" and his. He was well known then but he would sit and drink his pint and British good manners dictated that people took almost no notice of him other than initial recognition. He was always very handsome but more so when he was younger. He was a good age - I didn't realise.
He has been around all my life, first saw him in Ivanho, and on knitting patterns. Years ago, when he was with Dorothy Squires, we saw them drive past our house in an open topped sports car. RIP.
My favourite film with him in is Boat Trip. He played a gay SAS officer but he played it soooo straight that it was hysterical. I hadn't realised what a brilliant comic actor he was.
I used to love Roger Moore as The Saint and in the Persuaders. The quirky eyebrow was great. Not so good as 007, he was too much of a gentleman. RIP Roger.
