Now that is an opinion Yggdrasil is it not? I have no idea if he would be better or worse, don't even have an opinion, if Corbyn wins McDonald will be chancellor, if May wins I have no idea who will be ,this is a fact.
I have only connected McDonnell with the GLC as we were living there at the time, we had just moved there as Livingstone made some nifty little manoeuvres to oust McIntosh, the moderate Labour leader of the GLC and install himself as leader.
Far-left, far-right and left of centre/right of centre all depend on where you yourself are standing. If you are very much to the right you will see someone as far left who will only be seen as to the left of someone who is more centrist and possibly as centrist as someone who themselves if left of centre. What you believe about others says a great deal about your own political stance.
Thank you for posting that link dj. I admit I had no idea Jeremy Corbyn played such a pivotal role in the Northern Ireland peace process. Well worth reading.
Pity the .guardian had no knowledge of this, I do like reliable reporting , and how strange this writer comes out with all this days after Corbyn was under attack for his defence of and closeness to the I.R.A.
" More important than the political theatre Corbyn engaged in is the fact that Corbyn has not been consistent in his support of the efforts made by Britain to encourage dialogue and the Northern Ireland Peace Process. Most notably, he voted against the critically important 1985 Anglo-Irish Agreement, saying:
" Something remarkable is happening in British politics right now. Something rotten and disgusting too. Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of Her Majesty’s loyal (sic) opposition, is trying to rewrite history. " ----
If you read durhamjens persistent links to sqwakbox and trust it's credibility then I will say for goodness sake do your own homework! The respected Alan Johnson couldn't even give an ounce of credibility as to Corbyn being a player in the Anglo Irish Agreement / Good Friday Agreement on This Week tonight and so many Labour MP's have been honest about this notion Corbyn and McDonnell 'PLAYED SUCH PIVOTAL ROLES' in the Good Friday Agreement, they scoff at the suggestion. Corbyn voted against the Good Friday Agreement!
Who had ever heard of Corbyn or McDonnell being voices to help in the peace process at the time ( they were backbenchers in any case, not big players) no, they were all for a united Ireland, whatever the people in NI wanted, and were over friendly with the IRA top brass.
Also, on this left /far left thing, how come moderate left MP's are against Corbyn if he doesn't represent far left? McDonnell admits he was a Marxist, and Corbyn used to be called 'an affable Trot' Doesn't that say far left to you? Those posters who think he is moderate are kidding themselves.
It is fact, I read swaqbox link last night and it sickened me . Corbyn supported an independant Ireland and to use Mo in that filth posted disgusted me
This is how low the Corbyn-.momentum party will sink.
The view expressed was about Jen's links and BOGS view of how she should counter them.
The rest is just quoting other people's views and I imagine they will always be divided. 'Correct' doesn't come into it they are just opinions from two people who already hold strong opinions themselves about the person they are discussing. You are not 'right' or 'correct' just because you express an opinion unless you can prove it is correct. If you have no facts or the same facts are being interpreted in two different ways it still remains an opinion - or rather two opinions.
