Facebook's stance on fake news

It is reported this morning that Facebook has said: "We cannot become arbiters of truth – it's not feasible and it's not our role" (Mark Bridge, Times)

I agree. I do bot want social media sites to decide for me what is true and what isn't. That is taking away my freedom and my own responsibility.

Take any controversial subject discussed on Gransnet, for example. Do we all agree about what is the truth and what isn't? We don't.

Stay well out of such a censorious and nannying role, Facebook.
