Did we instigate these in the first place. Would we have done it anyway. There is so much that needs to be done. We need to do for ourselves. Our governments seem to have given up responsibility become lazy. It's the EU. Holding their hands up. So much easier to get trained staff from overseas than give our kids a chance.

Funnily enough the EU does a lot of human rights and what is good for the people - they are not afraid to take on big business such as the phone companies and their extortionate charges when you go abroad - they made them stop that - plus compensation when airlines let you down etc.

As I said we need a government that works for us and doesn't hide behind the EU. I am hoping the Labour Party will eventually take on workers rights, as they always used to. Or perhaps I should start another party! If only I had the energy.

That is nothing to do with the EU!!!! It is all to do with the UK Govt the same as taxes. There will be more of the zero hours when we are out of the EU plus the loss of many workers rights - this was a point made by the Leave group of four - things to make it cheaper for employers.
I agree about a Govt working for us - but that is unlikely this current one will do it when we leave and are out of the ECHR.

With this directive we still have the 0 contract hours or a guaranteed 7 hours a week. People over 50 being made redundant in droves. Jobs advertised abroad while here jobs are hard to find. what have the EU done about this? We have to elect a government in who will start working for us!

Hope his idea of the reverse domino effect in Europe is right.
Now they've seen what chaos Brexit is causing, other EU countries are being more careful about whom they vote for. They don't like the message of the far right.

Have you seen any of Guy Verhofstadt's posts on Facebook? - he has a page - he has continuously said that the 48% must be taken into account. Many UK citizens in the EU have written to him expressing their worry about the situation etc so he was well aware and it was obvious that he would work to help people - both EU and UK citizens - who were in a sort of limbo and worried sick.
It was good to see that David Davis has already said the bill will be paid.

Jeremy Corbyn is very much against the Euroean Union Posted Workers Directive, and for exactly that reason POGS ( that you give.)Perhaps that is one of many reasons why he was lukewarm about staying in the EU.

Just because you can't imagine it, doesn't mean that people didn't say what they have. Fox and Patel have frequently stated that they want to weaken employment laws. It's been part of their sales pitch and appeal.

well we shall just have to wait and see what they do actually get rid of when they get the freedom to do as they wish.

The Eu has told airlines they must have EU bases and a majority of EU nationals on their boards to operate within Europe. Ryanair should be OK with the DUblin base and Easyjet has the owner with UK and Cypriot nationality but it affects more directly the company which owns Thompson and a few others.

I wondered what you thought about it, good or bad, as you said

I have posted many times what I think of the European Union Posted Workers Directive and I think it has been a 'bad' Directive for the UK. I think it is the ' opposite ' of protecting our work force as it allows for jobs to be advertised overseas not in the UK, undercuts our wages and our work force have been replaced by workers from other EU countries .

I have never heard this said by anyone on the Government side, so maybe it is opinion only ( of someone ) that there is 'fear of' this happening.I cannot imagine any Government getting rid of any of those things!

I still don't know who has said they want to get rid of sick pay, maternity/paternity pay which Welshwife stated in her post.

I thought it was an interesting statement that I genuinely had not heard spoken of and as I would disagree wholeheartedly were it proposed I wondered who/what/where it was said.

Yes I do at times ask posters who make 'statements' for more information but only under the circumstance the poster is quoting somebody , making a statement, giving information without declaring the source. I don't ask for links when it is obvious the post is just 'the view ' of the poster.

There are posts after posts that take you to a link from ' a blogger' or to a party political site and I like to understand what lies behind the statement or point being made to know if I should 'store or ignore' the information from the poster.

If a poster makes a 'statement' then surely it is not unfair to ask where the source/information came from?

It's a worrying piece on the prospect of further damage to the UK Constitution by the concentration of power in the hands of the Executive with the Henry VIII clause. Which, historians among you will know, is precisely8 why Parliamentary sovereignty was fought for and evolved, to *restrict the power of the Executive. The Executive at that time was the monarch but a modern 'government' is a proxy for the monarch. That's why it's 'Her Majesty's Government'.
