I agree with you, lucky. I always thought that Hammond was nasty.

I thought the budget was ok, no real surprises but more or less what you would expect, think that Hammond will make a good Chancellor if he carries on as he is now.
I think there are always a few jibes.
Thought that Corbyn was going to explode he looked so angry, although there was a bit of giggling going on behind him ( but that could have been about something different.)

My DH actually agrees with NIC increasing for the self employed and he has been self employed for 30+ years.

The thread was wrongly titled.

The increase for sub contractors NIC 1% to 10% was a blow , they don't have holiday pay or sick pay. This will drive more people to work for cash in hand so not pay tax . I am thinking of the subbies we employ

Agreed. This was too important to be delivered accompanied by a lot of cheap, childish digs at the Opposition. I know there tends to be a bit of a tradition of this, but today Hammond went over the top with the nastiness, and the braying of the sycophantic backbenchers was sickening. Disgusting behaviour.

What about the budget, though...?
