It was NOT. I made no suggestion that you personally had said horrible vile things about either of these groups.

There were some Remainers on Twitter and in the media who made truly vile hateful comments. They deserve to be called out.

You should be aware that this was happening, even assuming you wouldnt have dreamed of making such comments yourself!

Actually, at the risk of agreeing with Mair and upsetting Whitewave there were younger people expressing anger online at older people who voted Brexit and saying they would soon be dead, why did they vote to leave and counting (or saying they had counted) the number of older Brexit voters who had died since the vote.

There certainly has been plenty of hate shown by Remainers since the referendum, hate towards the Northern working class and the older generation i.e. US for voting Brexit in substantial numbers.

The vile and spiteful language, gleefully anticipating the death of many older people has been alarming. Even older Remain supporters should be alarmed.

We have politicians in parliament in the Tory Party, the Labour Party and the Greens, in the next door constituency it was Lib dem for years but the last election did for them.

We voted remain in the referendum. The Green and Labour MPs voted against A50 the Tory is a remainer.

Don't get me wrong. Politics is lively and full of debate, but no attempt at dividing the populace by pointing fingers at "others". Of course there are those within the community who are supportive of that sort of politics, but they are a tiny minority, and there is no room for their hate.

We haven't got any communists either ana but I didn't think it needed stating as there are no communist parties of any significance in the UK

Yes, spot on daphnedill. Our town had a huge mine that closed in 1993. Apparently it was still very productive when it closed (we have both Thatcher and Scargill to blame for this) although the jury remains out, on whether it was cost effective? Most of the town had relatives working in that mine and many families had three generations working there. Added to this the closure of our ship yards and other heavy industry meant that there were very few jobs to go around. Margaret Thatchers name is still a swear word for some, in these parts.

Oh! I hope that doesn't come as smugness- it wasn't meant but what im trying to say is that life is possible without the hard right, in fact is really rather pleasant and tolerant.

I live in a town that represents all shades of the political spectrum - except the hard right. UKIP has and is very unlikely to have no foothold here. UKIP does exist somewhere in the shadows, but largely ignored.

It is a town known for its tolerance of all styles of life, love of and acceptance of all cultures, and faces Europe with open arms. What's not to like?

That's really sad. I'm guessing you're somewhere around Tyneside. I think it's a disgrace that shipbuilding and mining were allowed to decline without plans for replacement industries. I hope something does work out and that the area manages to replace EU funding somehow.
