Lord Snowdon has died.

Was saddened to hear of Lord Snowdon's death, may he RIP. I thoroughly agree that his children are a credit to him.
His wedding to princess Margaret in 1960 was the first big event I can recall seeing on TV. (Or maybe it was the Rome Olympics, cannot remember which came first).

At the time of the wedding, I was working at the Rochdale telephone exchange. I had a dentist`s appointment that morning, when I got back to work, they`d had a draw to see who worked and who could go home to watch the wedding on TV, and I missed it, so had to work!
RIP Lord Snowdon, whatever his shortcomings he was a charming man, and a great photographer.

At school we used to have twenty minutes devoted to current affairs once a week before assembly. The day Princess Margaret's engagement was announced we filed into the classroom where various newspapers were spread out on the teacher's desk, stopped in our tracks and just went, 'PHWOOOOOAAAAAR!'

After all the chinless wonders she'd been associated with he was drop dead gorgeous.

Can't get too worked up about this - he was a deceitful womaniser - it was not just the fact that Margaret had lost in love before she married him that caused their marriage to fail - he was serially unfaithful to both her and his second wife.

He was a wonderful photographer. I've still got a book of his work.

We sometimes have to look for the good points in people's lives and hope they outweigh the bad ones.
Well that is what I hope will happen when I pop my clogs.

I'm not sure his death can be seen as the start to another awful year, he was 86 and died peacefully!

What an interesting career he enjoyed, and as said, lovely unassuming children.

of course there were two he didn't really have much if anything to do with ,sad .I wonder if he remembered them in his will or if he just forgot they existed .A good photographer ,not such a good man

I loved the quote about his mother in the Times ( you can see where he got his infidelity from ) she was nickname " tugboat Annie " because she went from pier to pier .
