Today all the expats in Switzerland are talking about their nuclear bunkers in the house. They used to think it is hilarious- but they will spend this week-end emptying the skis and bicycles, wine and beer - and stock up with tins and water, etc

I think many of us on here know how you feel Rhinestone, we have gone through the same emotions ourselves after Brexit. You start to wonder where the country you thought you knew has gone. It is inevitable that people want change, but what is frightening is what the views of those who are in the forefront of that change tell us about our society and its priorities.

Already know on is going to jump on my back from saying so - but we both feel very depressed, sad adn scared this morning- and exhausted too.

We've been through all the Saga of the Referendum on limiting immigration here in Switzerland- with the divisions and total mess that ensued over the past 2 years with no solution ahead. Then Brexit - well don't need to explain about that one.

And today the worst possible...

All our white middle-class friends in the USA have been e-mailing and FBing to ask how they can move out asap - they just can't fathom living in the USA from today.

But worse, there are whole families and communities that woke up this morning really scared for their future, blacks and hispanics who are good, hard working citizens- striving for a better future - and who now just don't know what will happen. Young children terrified of going to school today ...

We truly (DH and myself) feel heart broken, sick and totally - yes- depressed

I'm just sick today by what my country has done. Uneducated people who believed everything the hate monger said makes me embarrassed to be an American. Yes Hillary had some corporate corruption and neither of them was my pick originally in the primaries. But Hitler started the same way with hate and fear and the fear took over . ( Trumps parents were not KKK though ) People were dissatisfied with politics and how the rich corporations were involved in politics. But never in all my years on this earth have I seen such hate, racism, homophobia, misogyny and bullying by a candidate for president. How do I explain that to the grandkids? I am ready to leave my country for I fear what can happen next.

Where did the idea that Trump is a successful business man come from? He inherited a huge fortune, and has during his business career declared bankruptcy 4 times, failed to pay many of the small businesses who supplied services and goods, and not paid taxes. I woke up in the early hours to let the dog out and realised then the way the election was going. Went back to bed and woke up, hoping it was all a bad dream [it was like referendum night all over again]. Now in shock and disbelief. I understand many Americans are already making enquiries about moving to Canada. All we need now is the continuation of the rise of the far right in Europe. Heaven help anyone in America who is black, Hispanic, disabled, sick, unemployed, female; old will be next. I can't bear seeing/hearing the man [along with his friend Farage] so, cowardly as it may be, my radio and tv will be switched off as much as possible for the next few years. Stop the world, I want to get off!

Agree with blinko ....wonder how long it will be before the Americans who voted for that idiotic poser are going to regret it ?
