I spoke to someone I hadn't seen for several months the other day, and she said she hadn't told people she was voting remain as she felt intimidated [this was even prior to the referendum]. How can some of you disregard the way that a lot of us feel? I must admit to not hearing of the safety pin thing before today, but I shall wear one. If it gives some of you amusement then, at least it's doing some good, isn't it.

I went to Leicester this morning , I had a good old shop around, met up with a group of friends (from varying races) for a coffee to arrange our annual New Year meal together.

Did I at any time feel there was racial tension in Leciseter City Center. NOPE

Just looked up the safety pin campaign.Sir Patrick Stewart is from my home town and is endorsing it.I have lots of respect for him as an actor and all the work he has done as former Vice Chancellor of our uni.But I'm not a badge ,ribbon ,pin wearing type of person.The charities I support include a humanitarian, animal and local hospice but I just never feel the need to pin something on.Guess as a Leave voter I'm not eligible anyway !Must ask my gay, Remain voting daughter (Italian partner) when she comes for dinner tonight if that makes me a less caring person.Haven't heard her mention it,or feel the need to wear one come to think of it.

Off to find a safety pin now.

One thing which as amazed me the last few days is the number of Brexiters who are truly concerned about Trump in the USA - whilst many Trump supporters in the USA show concern about Brexit in Europe (well those who know that Europe exists .... Trump knows little about Europe apart from the location of his golf courses. He actually thinks that Belgium is a small village ....). Sometimes we can see things further away much clearer than what is on one's doorstep.

I heard a comment that sums up the sneering, so - called intellectual elite view of Trump, Brexit, Democracy. It so reminded me of some views on Gransnet.

She was on the march in Portland against Trump. When asked if she was going against a democratic decision she said this:-

I never use the word hysteria - because I have heard the history especially Freud...it's been a put down for women

Men can't be hysterical. The word comes from the ?greek meaning uterus or womb. Hyspteria was thought to be caused by the womb wandering around the body. As men don't have uterii, they can't become hysterical

I wonder who is going to run his business empire as 3 of his children and a son in law who are at present helping run the empire are now on his executive committee. Didn't he want to get rid of the Clinton dynasty in high office? Seems we now have the 'Trump' dynasty.
