Eu citizenship, anyone?

As soon as your passport runs out you will be given a British passport like it or not. You are British. If you do not want to be British there is just about time for you to move to France/Germany/anywhere in the EU. You cannot have your cake and eat it. For goodness sake why not support the country you live in?
As far as I'm concerned if someone wants to be an EU citizen then they are ashamed of being British. Talk about being unpatriotic. Appalling.
Just two of the comments about something which surely is an individual decision. Why on earth do they feel they have to berate people?

French friends of my DD and her OH are enjoying living and working in Scotland, and hoping to buy a house here.

That's true Bobbysgirl I've spoken to a couple of people who voted leave for the wrong reasons (IMO) and they detest Trump.

petra et al My thought was based on the idea that both groups voted for such things as immigrants, loss of jobs, sovereignty etc. The Brexiteers aren't happy with Europe so I pondered if they would be happier with like minded people thousands of miles away. Just musing.

More like finding a way to insult anybody who voted for Brexit while inserting a 'smiley face' I can assure you, there have been plenty of insults on this forum already, so you are simply joining the ranks.
Trump is an awful man,but we have to hope his campaign and his Presidency will be two different things.
The situation in the UK is a whole lot more complicated than electing a leader, as we voted to leave the EU, control immigration ( note the word control, not unlimited immigration and not no immigration) and to be free to make and implement all our own policies and to trade freely with the rest of the world.
The rest of Europe may be doing the same thing before too long.

As you don't know me, I am really sad that you consider I was actually being serious. When I say it was just a thought and I was pondering the idea, I meant just that. I was not proposing it as a real option and the smiley face was actually to indicate that it was not so.

I, too, think Trump is obnoxious and tbh, when I heard he had been elected, I felt as sick as I did when the brexit results came in. The false accusations, promises and news items that have been spread in both situations are unforgivable.

As has been said before, it is hard to convey the real meaning in a text as there is no facial interaction and smileys and their various meanings cannot, obviously, supply that meaning.
