I was a union member for all my working life - first as a member of one of the print unions, then teaching and local government.

Unions do a lot of mediating behind closed doors and provide their members with valuable services, such as counselling, insurance and general advice.

I could never remotely have been described as an agitator, nor could my fellow members.

It's a common phrase dd and is regularly applied to Corbyn and pals.

Labour has some very competent back benchers. If they can get over the squabbles, there is the potential for a more competent Cabinet than the Conservatives have. Apparently Seumas Milne is going, so if Labour can present a more professional image without losing their principles (and it's a big 'if'), I'm beginning to believe they have a chance of winning elections.

daphne from what I heard of the speech Corbyn didn't deferentiate between Eu and non eu migrants.
In 2001 our population was approximately 59 mil people
In 2011 ......................................................63..................
In 2015.......................................................65..................
So in 14 years our population has increased by 6 mil people. Nobody ever knew how many were coming. Is it any wonder that the hospitals, schools, housing, is under strain.
You can't just knock up a hospital or a housing estate. This takes planning, and you as an intelligent woman know what is involved.

In my very humble opinion, Corbyn and McDonnell are the weak links in the Labour Party. If I were a competent back bencher, I would rise above the childishness and fight for the cause for which I became an MP in the first place.

I hope (fingers crossed) that the competent and talented MPs can rise amongst the ranks and take over.

Yes, I do have a fair knowledge of what's involved. I know that Easter European immigrants started arriving in 2003 and it's not beyond anyone with a brain bigger than a goldfish to plan for that kind of expansion.

Whatever he promotes or believes in Jeremy Corbyn - to me - comes across as a man driven not leading. He has not - so far - displayed the qualities of leadership in the media, or at the despatch box that are sorely needed. The strategy that has placed him where he is is very clever - but he still seems to be a fish out of water.

Yes, they are, Annie. The media can't be blamed. They have genuine concerns which need addressing. Personally, I think they can, but giving them a liberal brush off won't work.

Do you honestly think people like Keir Starmer, Dan Jarvis and Debbie Abrahams are frightened of Momentum? I think they're bigger than that.
