I think, Wobblybits that we have to be a member of an established political party and that woolly minded floating voters like myself (or rather, as I like to think, discerning voters with an open mind) should steer clear of political threads.

As for Syria, in particular Aleppo, if powerful nations and the United Nations cannot sort this out, no amount of pleading, petitions etc by ordinary people can do so.

There are brave souls venturing into these places to help.
Someone I know is still trying to send aid into Idlib which is subject to air raids. Bombing bakeries and food sources was happening constantly (starving his people into submission) but now use of chemical weapons takes it to a new level of atrocity.
Who supplied the chemical weapons? Germany could have and other countries could have supplied the components to enable the Syrian regime to make them.

Appalling though the situation is the last thing I think we should do is send our armed forces in to fight a war we can't win, for people who are unlikely to want us there.

Our armed forces are no longer the endless , mighty , well equipped fighting force they were . It will just be sending more people to their death.

Like everyone else I think what is happening is beyond appalling but am at a loss when it comes to stopping it. We have already removed Saddam and Ghadafi and look how well that ended! Intervention just seems to make things worse and more people die.

Perhaps that should be lack of awareness of anyone else. Posters on here may be lucky enough to be free of the terrible things that are happening elsewhere, but they are still sentient human beings. They are not just fodder for your own lobbying.

Yemen never gets mentioned but there are at least six children a day being killed by Saudi Arabia dropping cluster bombs made in the UK from planes bought from the UK.
Over 100,000 people killed.

I think those people deserve consideration.
There is something we can do about it, by showing our outrage and ensuring the government stop giving arms companies the right to sell to Saudi. We sell chemical weapons to Saddam as well.
