If anyone is wondering when May is going to reveal all about the Brexit strategy she is going to take the stage on Sunday.

Business will be pleased to be able to begin to plan, they must be fed up with the uncertainty.

Fallon is attempting to block the EU from forming a common military force. He wants though to be part of the military relationship after Brexit

Fox is indicating that the UK will be leaving the customs union, whilst May has said that the EU will sign an ambitious trade deal with the U.K. Johnson meanwhile has said that automatic link between single market and free movement is baloney.
Apparently Johnson is given respect nor credibility by the the other foreign ministers, and one can hardly be surprised.

You can't just pick up a car factory and move it elsewhere in a couple of months, Ana. It takes a couple of years to sort out the finances including grants from other countries in the EU.
I know someone who did just this for Ford.
Mind, some of the factories are built flatpack these days to make it easier. Nestle did that in York.

Why will Nissan be cutting off its nose to spite its face if it moves production to Spain (or elsewhere), especially as new models come along and the factories need to be redesigned anyway? Nissan will go where it can make the biggest profit. I assume you know that Jaguar Land Rover is investing £1 billion in a new plant in Slovakia. BMW is seriously considering building a car plant there and Slovakia has the fastest growing automotive industries in the world. Toyota has said it's unlikely to invest in the UK in the light of the Brexit vote and Tata is building a new steel plant in Slovakia. Slovakia has highly skilled workers and will no doubt do what it can to attract Nissan and other manufacturers. Everything depends on trade negotiations and freedom of movement.

No, it'll take them two years to work out the best place to move to just in case they have to pay 10% tariffs.

The only way they will not have to pay tariffs is if we allow free movement of people.

I don't see the car industry or any other industry going anywhere until after the elections and referendums coming up in Europe give a better idea of what's happening there. Everyone is sitting on the fence and waiting.

Ib the meantime the car industry gets fed up of her playing her cards close to her chest and gives up and moves somewhere else. That's the impression I got from what I saw.

Nothing to do with cluelessness but everything to do with playing your cards close to your chest. Until there is something concrete to say we won't know anything. Stops speculation and false rumours, much better strategy all round.

It's Brexit that will be cutting off the car industry, not the Japanese.
Nissan imports parts, builds cars here, then exports cars to the rest of the EU. If it has to pay both import and export tarrifs, it may as well build the next factory on the mainland.
I heard on the local news that there are more people working in Nissan on technology instead of the actual building.
That can happen anywhere.

A long time Whitewave. It's a case of who can hold their nerve longest. I think we'll be OK with the European car industry as they need us more than we need them, but the Japanese attitude is far more concerning as they're more liable to cut off their nose to spite their face.

Mamie it does look a nice town, passed through there a couple of weeks ago , but it was a Saturday morning and the traffic was terrible.

It is a lovely town. A bit like a smaller version of Bath with a similar feel. The charity shops are second to none!

I have never been there (and don't know anyone from there).

Sounds like a fun place to visit though if they can laugh at themselves like that.

The town's tourist shops sell cups and knick-knacks, some with the slogan 'Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells' printed on them and others with 'Delighted of Tunbridge Wells' on them. The shops sell twice as many goods from the 'Disgusted' range

Tunbridge Wells - the only town in Kent that voted remain.
