What about scriptgate? I am still surprised he read all his replies at the hustings in Scotland from notes. Why? if he needs them there may be another reason why he refused to appear on the Brexit debates , not forgetting he needed Shami to write and pass him notes when he appeared before the select committee

yesterday DH was kicked of a train ( mid journey) that was overcrowded - the guard (a regular) told him that on the way down the train was so crowded that it was a health & saftey issue & refused to crew it unless people were taken off

don't know what they did going down, apart from removing some passengers, but coming back they changed a local stopper into a non stop train & load of people had to change trains . this was GWR

I'm always amazed at how many people travel by train ( unless they work in London and have no choice) they are not only busy but very, very expensive.

Usually cheaper than petrol and car parking. And there is the nightmarish traffic queues. Not to even mention the environment.

Not daft at all when you bear in mind that it is in fact cheaper, quicker and more convenient to do what Owen Smith did and fly!! A rather rude and uncalled for comment Jbf!

You can always be relied on jinglfor providing the rude comment of the day.
When travelling long distances ( not by car) we use coaches, much cheaper and never found much delays on the motorways.Obviously, if going to work, then trains are faster, at least if they actually run on time or turn up at all.

Fed up,of hearing about trains, if I want to travel by train to London I have to catch a bus 20 miles, then a train 29 miles to get to Cardiff to catch a train to London

Flying is worst way to travel for the environment, though.
How is it quicker?

DS flies to Glasgow for meetings ( although his arms do get a bit tired.)

Approx five hours by train London to Glasgow

Approx 1 hour 20 minutes by plane from London to Glasgow

But that's not the only time it takes.
How long does it take to get to the airport?
How long do you have to be there before the plane takes off?
I never fly, so do not know these,, but I know that when my son's partner flew from Edinburgh to Copenhagen, an extra 3 hours was needed to ensure she got on the plane both journeys, so it wasn't just the time from when the plane took off.
Admittedly you have to be at the right station at the right time, but that's normal. And if you miss it, there's another one soon.

Why do you think the trains are so overcrowded. It's not because anyone actually enjoys travelling on them. It's necessity.
