See Mummy Leadsom has rural affairs - good so she can make sure all those Brexiting farmers get their subsidies. Not sure if she cares much about the environment though.
She's a huge fan of fracking, so the farmers better watch out if they don't want to be fracked.
I feel sorry for the foxes too, Tegan.
With a bit of luck, she'll be kept busy visiting County Shows and judging beautiful baby competitions.
How come Grayling's got DoT? I thought it was going to be abolished. That's what happens when you take your eyes of the news for more than five minutes - I'll have to catch up.
I didn't give much credence to the conspiracy theory but with May give Boris the FO beginning to wonder. Perhaps hie payoff for being a sacrificial lamb that turned the tide against Gove. Great mixed metaphors before someone else says it.
I've just texted him, but no guarantee I will get a reply!!!
He'll be peeved about continual badger culling and potential fox hunting, but I'm not sure she'll get fox hunting through.
A lot of his problems now will come about funding, as a lot comes from the EU. But presumably the government won't want their voters flooded and lose their houses and livings!!! What is more worrying is the protection given to so much of our wild life etc. Carol Klein was looking at something DS has helped develop on Rye Farm nature reserve. Much of that is subject to rules and regs of EU.
I am beginning to feel a tad glum, as there are a lot of right wingers in the cabinet. May little speech may turn out like Thatchers - hot air! Although one glimmer, if she is looking to the next election she may be trying to win some of the under dogs vote, and so may be more liberal in her policies.
I thought her speech too detailed for the occasion. Sounded a lot like ED Miliband. I think Boris is for Africa, India and China and the EU is left for Davies. It will be a hard nut to crack According to Radio 4 Liam Fox can see who he likes but cannot sign anything
Why leave Hunt with Health? Surely too much ill feeling there, it needs a new approach. I think TM wants Boris where she can keep an eye on him but from afar. He might turn out well as he has connections in Europe (remember him on 'Who do you think you are?') and I believe he speaks French - also Latin, of course! Also, I bet he can be charming when he wants to be.
Got rid of the climate change dept. been pretty much a complete waste of money of course as Mr "Greenest government ever" did as little as possible in that regard. The Green Deal was ill conceived and expired soon after its birth. They cut subsidies to renewables and reduced the obligation on the energy companies to put money into insulating the houses of poor people. Not even one feeble cheer.
I think these pretty field edges where wild flowers are allowed to grow, might have come about due to the EU. I hope we don't lose them now. I'm not sure if it was due to the EU, the BBC promoting it via the Big Lottery Fund, or a nationwide 100 year memorial to WW1.
However, I have just scattered some corn cockle seeds on a patch of lawn - am I going to have to weed them out ?
Jalima it was the UK who held out for the option that EU countries could use some of the CAP finding for environmental improvements. This included re-planting hedgerows (many of which were originally ripped out in the early days of CAP as were marshy area drained!) and planting wild flowers on field margins to attract pollinators.
