Being blamed

Not insulted, no, but annoyed that those of us who voted remain are being lumped in with the 60%. We're not one homogenous self-centred lump shuffling and grumbling towards eternity with no thought for anything but our own interests. We're made up of individuals like every other age group.

Anyway, it doesn't matter now how long it takes for the Brexit majority to disappear. We're out.

I think the younger generation will live to thank us. Their future looks pretty bleak already and if Spain, Portugal , Greece etc. is anything to go by, being in the EU is not exactly where I'd like to be as I went out into the world of work etc.

Alygran I wondered the same thing. There were no xit polls and voting is confidential. How can they know?

However these particular figures were compiled, they're consistent with a number of surveys over the last year or so.

The key factor is educational qualifications (NOT intelligence)and younger people have more opportunities than older people (certainly those over about 70). My generation (I'm 61) was the supposed to be a 'golden age' for education (grammar school followed by free university), but only for a minority.

I posted an almost identical post a week or so before the referendum and was shouted down.

Data has been collected by many organisations about voting intentions and every single survey over the last few years has shown consistent attitudes towards the EU.

I am so angry with this dreadful result and feel ashamed to be English. I am a Conservative voter but never again will I vote for a party that favours the small-minded and well-heeled and capitalises from fear and bigotry. Their dislike of the EU is founded in the belief that they are ordained by God to rule this country. This decision to leave is their fault; the referendum was not asked for (or even understood) by swathes of the population. May God forgive them because I will not.

We had to have a referendum because it was promised in the Conserative manifesto, so they could hardly get out of it...

Haven't all parties in power at some time or other? But this one was seen as a vote-catcher and there were enough people banging on about it to make it imperative. It didn't have to be so early, though.

That's a classic case of whataboutery!

The referendum could have been done under different terms, eg. a clear majority with minimum turnout, giving 16 year olds a vote, allowing all residents to vote, etc.

Do people actually believe another referendum would appease the EU bosses? 'Oh yes, you made a mistake, of course we'll forgive you and take you back with open arms...' Some hopes.

Nothing much EU bosses can do! The UK hasn't left yet. Incidentally, the UK is due to take over as boss next year.

Nothing to do with that ana and everything to do with the feeling of a badly constructed and run referendum

I think we'd be welcomed 'back' with a slap on the wrist, told not to be so silly again, a hug from Mutti Merkel and a Gallic kiss from Hollande.
